I’ve always been terrible at this, especially with .223/5.55, but the primers in your picture didn’t look crimped to me.Came across this thread when googling S&B NT primers. View attachment 728624

his attachments in there do not seem to open - what was the general consensus there anyway? Is drilling out flash holes dangerous?
Drilled Flash Hole High Pressure Test; 308W In the past I have posted this explanation of why I drill out flash holes for use with low end reduced loads. “I shoot many thousands of squib loads in various calibers but mostly in .30s. Many of these are rimless cartridges; 30-06, .308, .308...castboolits.gunloads.com
Yeah I agree. I don't believe they're crimped. I guess I'll find out whenever I get around to reloading them.I’ve always been terrible at this, especially with .223/5.55, but the primers in your picture didn’t look crimped to me.
He sums it up in the last paragraph of the first post. Basically nothing to worry about. The sky didn’t fall.his attachments in there do not seem to open - what was the general consensus there anyway?
yeah, but to see the actual data would be interesting. He sums it up in the last paragraph of the first post. Basically nothing to worry about. The sky didn’t fall.
Agreed but a lot of those files are gone.yeah, but to see the actual data would be interesting.
Oooo nice! Need some gel testing now.Cranked out some more x39 with 200 gr lubed gc, Used a noe .313 neck expander for .315 heads and passes the plunk test fabulous. Pulled a boolit or 2 and found no bulled swaging. It’s the new favorite round. RCBS SB T/C dies yielded much better results all the way around View attachment 728829
Probably cheap steel jacketed stuff also. The accuracy of the AK-47 at 100 yards was dismal. The group was about a foot for 10 shots. That rifle has been used by my son and his pals since they were in school and has probably fired about 30,000 rounds. He'll try again with a rifle of the same mfg. that has fired very few rounds.
for an older AK it is about of what it does... boroscope the barrel and check the crown, like, take the round or bullet and see if it drops freely now through the crown into the barrel - if it does, then, well, it is it.The group was about a foot for 10 shots.
that does not matter much, it is made to shoot steel ammo. it just does not last, especially cheaper clones.Probably cheap steel jacketed stuff also.

it really depends upon which clone it is and how poorly was barrel made, and out of what exactly.Brass vs. Steel Cased Ammo - An Epic Torture Test
This comprehensive 40,000 round brass vs. steel cased ammo torture test examines at key indicators of ammo performance and cost in AR-15 rifles.www.luckygunner.com
Bimetal jackets increase wear on the barrel but the cost over time is less for a given accuracy tolerance - By the time the steel jackets wear out the barrel the savings can pay for a new barrel.
Doesn't change the wear difference between bimetal and copper jackets.it really depends upon which clone it is and how poorly was barrel made, and out of what exactly.
considering that for a lot of brand new ak47s the out of box new accuracy is 4 or even 5moa. old one spitting a 10 or 12 - well, it is just what it is, again.
the whole concept of 'to rebarrel an AK47' - that just screams 'only in amerika'. you throw old one into garbage and just get a new one from the box.Doesn't change the wear difference between bimetal and copper jackets.
However, if the AK had seen 30k rounds it was due for a new barrel regardless of the quality of the ammo
And you will let us know how these performed ???loaded some 7.5x55 Swiss with a 168 grain hpbt match bullet and 4064.
That’s the same combo I use in my scoped K31 and I got half inch groups at 100 yards FWIWAnd you will let us know how these performed ???
Naaah single stage is awesome. Progressive moves too fast and takes away my want to reload on a nightly basisPrimed some 38
Damn I need a progressive
