I realize that policing in this country needs an overhaul, no argument from me.
Putting the majority of this country (and NES as well) in charge of shooting back when the time comes? Good luck. Paper doesnt shoot back. Maybe youve paintballed a few times, or used sims whatever, but you always know you cant get killed by them, so its easy to have superballs of steel. You cant simulate the real thing.

Last time we checked, more police/less police had ZERO effect on crime. circa 1970-1980, Kansas City?
Last time it was tested, NYC noted that the only negative removing police from the scene was..............less revenue generated. If that's why you have cops, you're doing it wrong....

I know you were joking but what do you think would be the impact on the law enforcement industry if drugs were legalized?

I mean at the federal, state, and local levels, including police, prosecutors, courts, prisons, etc.

I bet a million people would be added to the available private sector labor pool, and trillions of dollars would be saved. Seriously.

The 1033 program should have been available to all US citizens of voting age. Not just the guns and ammo but all the gear, medical, sleeping bags ectect.

I've got some friends over there, my understanding is it's an abbreviated academy for current national guard. Minus a lot of the PT and bag dumps, with the idea that if the guard were to get activated for some sort of emergency they could have police powers.

Trying to explain the issue to people is maddening. They're convinced cops need APCs and full auto rifles because "the bad guys have them" which is insane nonsense. Or they cite 9/11 or the North Hollywood Shootout as examples of why they need them.

Too many towns have SWAT teams as it is and only some need them, and only some need better weapons than the standard shotguns and pistols. I have no issue with them having a handful of AR-15s and such, but grenade launchers, APCs, fatigues...no.

When Obama started say weshoud demilitarize the police, I suddenly had some doubts.

He is, of course, all about letting rioting folk express themselves by throwing rocks, burning city blocks down and tipping over police cars. Not about JBTs repressing the average Joe objecting to government growing in power to stifle freedom.

Or is it just a convenient ploy to use his Race Card to further his Socialist agenda? Hmmm...
