Jewish Americans are taking drastic measures to protect themselves and their loved ones, with many turning to firearms for the first time amid an alarming surge in antisemitism nationwide.
Florida gun store owner David Kowalsky addressed the growing number of Jews seeking to buy firearms and train with guns during "America's Newsroom" as many fear for their safety as war rages between Israel and Hamas in the Middle East.
"I have a lot of people coming in saying that they've never thought they'd be in this position where they had to purchase own or train with a firearm," Kowalsky told Dana Perino Tuesday. "And they're coming in and wanting more information on how to obtain one train with one and to be able to protect their family and loved ones."
Kowalsky said he has known people who have received direct threats since the war began one month ago following Hamas' unprecedented massacre on the Israeli people.
"Aside from neighborhoods being vandalized, synagogues, areas… saying they want to kill Jews and direct threats, they are very conscientious, very worried about what is going on around them and around the country in general.," Kowalsky said.
Antisemitism has surged 388% according to the Anti-Defamation League, taking root across college campuses and even outside the White House gates.
Over the weekend tens of thousands of anti-Israel protesters took to the streets in Washington, D.C. praising Hamas and calling for the annihilation of the Jewish state.

I have no problems with Jewish folks buying guns for the first time -- or anyone else, for that matter. However, Jewish folks would do their cause more good if at the same time they switched their predominant political party allegiance.

If there’s an uptick in firearms deaths or shootings 4Q23, experts will blame it on a “surge” of new gun owning Jews. Then, when that uptick fades back to baseline, the experts won’t say “guess we were wrong”, like they were wrt the 2020-2022 COVID gun-buying surge.
As more blacks, women and Jews are armed, the Democrats have shifted to demonizing the AR-15 as the intermediate step in gun control, knowing that more pistol/shotgun owners will support AWBs.
Sad and disgusting behavior, and, it’s a huge test of the First Amendment and the danger of criminalizing speech into “hate speech,” and at what point does speech turn into an actionable threat to individuals. Should speech that I find repugnant such as, “you’re a filthy [enter group here] and all of you deserve to die,” be considered banned “hate speech?” I think It rises to the level of a threat of imminent harm if you have a group of people surrounding students and chanting that at them. But, we run the risk of falling into the trap that we’re seeing in the UK where people are getting arrested for “causing anxiety” by posting memes questioning why there are foreign flags flying on the streets. I’m not downplaying the danger to Jewish people on college campuses at all. I think being surrounded by a mob chanting for your death is an actionable threat that should be prosecuted. I just want to point out that defending the First Amendment at times means that you have to defend speech and content that you find disgusting.
