Terrorist Attack in Paris

[h=3]French (Socialist) Prime Minister Declares "France Is At War With Terrorism, With Jihadism, and With Radical Islam"[/h]Hey can we trade our socialist for theirs?
Incidentally, this Valls character was already popular and is acquitting himself very well in all this. If they can engineer Hollande not running again, he would be a big threat to keep the presidency (which the Socialists really should lose, and lose badly).
Four standing ovations for the prime minister, from all quarters. A session without precedent in the National Assembly. Manuel Valls inflamed, Tuesday, the Hemicycle (the National Assembly building), in delivering a speech called "historic," even in the ranks of the opposition....

For the first time, the prime minister declared: "Yes, France is at war against terrorism, jihadism, and radical Islam... but not against a religion." "France is not at war against Islam or the Muslims.... France will protect all of its citizens, those who believe and and those who don't," declared Calls, under the thunder of applause.
...
Manuel Valls had also furiously railed against "anti-semitic acts, which have known in France a terrible precedent." Facing the legislators, some of whom were unable to hold back tears of emotion, Valls boomed: "How can it be accepted that in France, land of the emancipation of the Jews for two centuries, but which was also, for sixty-eight years, one of the lands of their suffering [referring to WWII], how can we accept that we would hear in our streets 'death to the Jews'?!"
Meanwhile, Obama golfed, and thought about the upcoming division championship game.
Before Valls spoke, the Assembly observed a minute of silence to respect the dead of the latest terrorist barbarity, then erupted into a spontaneous (?)rendition of La Marseillaise. It was the first time the anthem was sung there since the end of the Great War.

Score one for France. None of the US presidents seemed to be able to come out and say that we are fighting against Islamic fascism. "war on terror" is soooo politically correct.

The UN has way more power than many believe.
Ever heard the term "New World Order"?
That's them guys..

The UN has shit without funding from member countries. They are just a bunch of tin horn dictators trying to rule the world. I'd like to see them send some blue helmets over here. They make excellent targets.

Charlie Hebdo gives the middle finger
Charlie Hebdo begins printing its next issue on January 12–an issue that will be a one million copy run and will contain Muhammad cartoons.

Good for them. I hope they find the most "offensive" Muhammad cartoons and print them in full color pages. Something with lots of goats, sheep, etc.

Oh and a giant middle finger on the front page, or whatever the French equivalent is.

Group buy for this issue?

I just started reading 'Day of Wrath' - it's coming here, and soon.
Well, the two first paragraphs of your sig say it all. Let em come.
Or to quote Gerard Butler in 300: "this is where we stand. This is where we fight. This is where THEY die".
the Mooslems in America couldn't even survive two bus loads of angry NES'ers at GO time, left alone could they mess with the rest of the country. And they know it.

Just trying to point out the premise in the book is a widely distributed terror attack on soft targets - coordinated - various states - all at the same time after a 'signal event'.

You may not know you are in the middle of it - until after it's over, if you live.

Keep alert, look for 'odd', out of place things - and DO NOT IGNORE YOUR GUT.

A whole bunch of guys in trench coats all walking into a mall at the same time - odd.

A large vehicle whose springs are weighed down, parked in a very busy area - odd.

Many other examples - just thinking out loud.

With an open border, no real follow up with people who do enter 'legally' or get 'caught & released' - we are asking for trouble. Does it mean it's open season if something happens - no. It means you hunker down, arm-up, and wait for the next shoe to drop.

Not wanting to give away the book to those that haven't read it yet - I'll stop there.

I don't have my sound up, but AK firing in a house without earplugs on is pretty loud and get your adrenalin pumping like there is no tomorrow. If these are pew pew and comrades just walk through the building looking for targets, that's enough time for the rest to figure out that it's not someone coming back from a Mexican food place.

my thoughts as well, they do make a little popping sound but nothing like an AK for sure

Why is it that these events that dramatically sway public opinion seem to leave me so uneasy with unanswered questions? Foil on.... [tinfoil]

1) Most if not all Islamic terrorist attacks like this result in the (desired) deaths of the attackers as Martyrs - These guys were a kill squad intent on escape
2) They had their names within an hour of the attack supposedly due to their ID being left in the escape car???.
- Only Jack Bauer names everyone involved that quickly.
- For such a professional hit is it really plausible they left IDs in the car?
3) The third guy Identified as the driver turned himself in immediately after seeing his name in the news. He had a rock solid alibi, so I'm guessing that was to ensure he didn't get killed by French authorities. He's since been released
4) For such a professional hit squad how did they get themselves caught in a matter of ours and go down in flames so quickly. If the French intelligence is that good well then that's awesome. But I'm skeptical

There's much to be gained by aligning sentiment in Europe. For example the French have now committed a carrier and its resources to fight ISIS

Foil Off.....

They found their ID's in the escape car? Well hell, if that is true, I can't help but find it fishy. That just doesn't sound plausible.

From the Wall Street Journal
http://www.wsj.com/articles/charlie-hebdo-attack-french-police-hunt-for-gunmen-1420708623

"The minister said the elder brother had been formally identified from a photograph as one of the attackers. His national identity card was found in an abandoned Citroën that had been used as a getaway car."

I don't buy it either. The guy stopped outside his car after capping a cop to pick up a sneaker. Very cool headed thing to do. But somehow they leave the ID card in the car?

Maybe it was a legit attack but they left someone else's iD behind? Islamic version of "swatting"?

It would make a lot more sense to plant someone else's ID (and someone plausible) then for the actual guy to have left his ID. False lead, and one that could end up working out entirely.

I guess I'm totally skeptical, just don't buy it. If they really did find the ID of one of the shooters in the get-away car, it had to be intentional. That sort of accident just isn't plausible.

I don't understand your skepticism. The guys were morons. That's not a surprise.

Second, they wanted everyone to know who they were. They knew they would be found and would die in a police shootout. That's what they wanted.

If they wanted people to know who they were and therefore left it on purpose, that doesn't surprise me. I said I'd be surprised if it was accidentally left.

Morons in what way? They seemed pretty effective. Killed 12 and got away initially.

What was hard about it? Seriously?

They placed a 2nd getaway car some distance from the site of the attack so they could change cars. When they first got there, they were at the wrong address and didn't even know which door to go through (bad mission planning). They go in, shoot some people, leave with 5 minutes or so. Get in their car and drive off, switch to the second car and away they go.

I don't think they expected or intended to get "away" away. That is, I assume they realized they would get run down. They just wanted to drag it out a bit. But their "plan" for their final stand sure sucked -- they didn't take a single cop with them at their final stand.

Maybe I'm naive, but I simply don't see that suck attacks are hard to organize or implement, provided you have two suicidal idiots.

Then why wear ski masks during the attack? Something doesn't smell right about this one.

Looks like France isn't very open to free speech and is looking to put more restrictions on speech using the attack as a basis
