This is mine. Just because I own a compact sphinx and could never get myself to own any other kind of 9mm handgun now.
I prefer a hammer stye carry too, since that first trigger pull of 10 pounds gives me time to thinks about what I'm about to do and chances of shooting myself in the femoral artery is less than a striker fired 4 lb trigger gun. After that first round though, its all 4 pounders from there on. I also like the fact that my pinky is still on the bottom of the grip rather than hanging off like I'm about to drink from a cup of tea.

I know their expensive, about a grand. But! As I said I own the compact model and the sub compact firing characteristic is the exact same, so I dont have to worry about carrying either one and trying to figure out which one I just pulled and where the trigger set is etc.

I also rather have the full length steel rail rather than little bent inserts here and there like in a poly lower receiver. It just make the gun so much more accurate and docile to shoot.

So just do what I do folks when it comes to buying an expensive gun. As I did with my Weatherby, CZ and Escort rifles and Leopold scopes and my SPD Compact. (ouch!) but its like tearing off a band aid. Do it fast and it only hurts for a little while.
Get ya a CitiCard 0 interest card (good for 21 months) Go down to your favorite gun shop and buy it! Then head back to your house with your new expensive gun, light up your woodstove and throw it in. (The card of course [smile])

So now. Tell me about your favorite subcompact (SUB) and why I should consider it.

Springfield Armory XD Mod.2 3.3" .45

9+1 of .45 ACP, sights work great in most lighting conditions, trigger is buttery, (factory) extended magazines available

Kahr PM9. Accurate and a mild recoil for a small gun. Easy to pocket carry in a Desantis holster. This is the Mass version that I had the slide cerakoted to match the frame.

Had a buddy shoot himself in the leg a couple years ago practicing drawing that same gun. He got lucky. Round went in the back off his leg and came out behind his ankle. Missed the artery and bones but he said it still wasnt any fun at the hospital.

S&W Shield in 9mm, because:

100% reliable, so far, w/~300 rds through it
very concealable, from in waistband holster to even pocket carry
$359 cash from 4 Seasons in Woburn
mags aren't too expensive either
very manageable recoil in a small gun

i don't consider single stacks to be subcompact. it's a different category.

to me the best subcompacts are P30sk and G26. i've shot a ton of others and these 2 always impress.

Although I love glocks the subcompact glock is just not my cup of tea. I literally hate my little finger and in some cases my little finger and ring finger hanging off the bottom of the grip.

That's funny, I've always thought the subcompact label on the G26 was a bit misleading - it's a chunky little pistol!

I had a 1975 Toyota Carolla SR5 2 door coupe that was a lot of fun to drive.

Oh, wrong sub compact.

My first favorite sub compact gun was a S&W CS9 "Chief's Special". A very nice, small 9mm semi auto. I told it when I got a slightly larger compact 3913TSW.
My current favorite sub compact is a Bersa Thunder 380CC. It's a very nice pocket pistol for when I don't want to or can't carry a larger gun. It also might be the ONLY Bersa Thunder 380CC in the PRM, which makes it all that much more sweet. :)

Everytime I hear .380 I think about a court case that I read about.
A guy was being convicted of killing another guy with his 9mm and almost went to prison for life until somebody mentioned the bullet weighed 90 grains. The defendants lawyer was smart enough to know that a 9mm weighs 115 grains and a .380 weighs 90 grains. Case dismissed.

Personally my go to sub compacts are the Glock 42 and 43. Reliable, ease of operation and it's a Glock.

I have been pretty happy with my LC9s, for a compact. My sub is a S&W BG. Once you get used to the trigger, its not a bad little carry gun. It is easier for me to carry the BG, but I shoot the LC9 better. So I do prefer the LC9 over the BG most of the time.

+1 for Shield 9mm
Very comfortable for me to carry. Use Raw Dog Tactical holster. Carry @ 4' o'clock.

I have to ask... why the hell would the caliber make ANY difference in a murder case? There has to be more to that situation, because grain weight alone simply could never be the deciding factor of someone going to prison, or not.

With regard to your question, my favorite sub-compact for the past year has been my LC9s Pro model. It is super thin and easy to conceal, especially with the factory radiused edges which cause others to print. The Pro model has no safety, which I prefer with a carry gun, so given that it's 9mm, easy to use, and and conceal, I see no use to carry anything else, so all my other handguns are relegated to range/home defense use now. The only exception being when I need deep concealment, I sometimes carry my M&P BG 380, since that is the smallest, most concealable gun I own. I don't sweat the .380 thing at all since I only carry that gun when I otherwise couldn't carry anyway, so it's still better than nothing at all.

That's not really a sub, imho.

Then you don't like any subs because every gun that is in this class does it unless you have an extended mag.

I think its an SDP, but I could be wrong. [wink]

I'm in the Shield 9 camp, until the VP9 SK is readily available.

One like this Walther P99C-AS. 10+1 and standard cap mags available. Tell your buddy to keep his finger off of trigger until clear of his body. I bet he won't shoot himself thay way.
