I commute into Cambridge from Wayland. The commute is hellish. It can take 1 hour each way. Commute from Sturbridge to East Boston in 1 hour? Um, no.Have you considered living in Western Mass and taking the MassPike in as a commuter? You could drive an hour from Sturbridge/Charlton area and be in East Boston. This opens up a lot of nearby territory.
Have you consider the commuter rail from Maine? It gives you time to catch up on reading and any work that you might do at home.

+1.... The pike sucks... I wouldn't wish that commute on anyone, even if they were only a few exits down.

The list is so short forcoming back i can't think of any good reason ....well unless you want a freee check for doing nothing along with free housing ....thanks welfareSo I moved out of MA five years ago up to Maine, and I love it here.
Problem is, I was offered a dream job at a dream organization..... in East Boston. Right now, it would be a 2 hour + commute one way. I don't even like driving, and that is way too much time away from family, and too sedentary a lifestyle, and too stressful.
Even Kittery is kinda far away, though NH isn't bad, but my wife would have to find the "perfect town".
Talk me out of looking in MA, I'm getting tempted!

It all depends on the job my friend. I would move to San Fran if my dream job was there and offered. No matter where you live, you'll always have NES!!!
WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP!
I grew up in Somerville, MA. and moved to NH in 2004 after 38 years under communist rule. DON"T DO IT, you can still be an American for the most part where you are now. If anything you might want to look somewhere in NH. Unless of course you have no problem with the idea of Socialism and don't mind leaving your Constitutional rights at the door.So I moved out of MA five years ago up to Maine, and I love it here.

NES is a great forum for like minded people, however it really can not do much for your 2nd. amendment rights in a place like the peoples republic of Assachusetts. And why is that exactly?
How long before the dream job becomes a nightmare and you are then stuck in the hell that is Mass.
I feel your pain but it's a lost cause!Move to MA and help us fight the good fight. We need more people like you to battle the moonbats.

Hey buddy, I have news for you! the economy is not strong anywhere. And to add insult to injury, socialist states like Massachusetts are making things worse by continuing to tax the shit out of struggling hard working people so they can continue support the professional layabouts on the public dole in an effort to be reelected!!!Lived in NH five years. Not jealous. Grass is always greener. Some people make the best of where they live, but a lot of people here seem to concentrate on making the worst.
I know people who have moved from Southern Maine to the mid-coast because "Southern Maine isn't Maine anymore" and others who have moved from the Mid-Coast to Downeast. But they brought their jobs with them: the Maine economy is not strong.
I don't disagree with regards to 2A related issues. However, people need to make their own career choices and choices on what's important in their lives.
Unfortunately, MA and CA are two of the biggest areas for high tech jobs (not that the OP is necessarily in high tech). I generally like New England and, unfortunately, MA is the only state in New England with a good high tech job market. I also hate long commutes. So, the net of it is I live in MA, make the best of it and hope the SCOTUS makes some favorable rulings in the near future.
This. As much as I hate living in this state, Paul is right... there are a lot of jobs here.

You don't have to live in MA. to work in MA.
If all good men had fled MA, Scott Brown would not be the 41st vote. It's a personal choice. I choose to stay, fight the good fight and raise my childern to do the same.
