STEEL CHALLENGE MATCH (See post #198 for results) Harvard Sportsmen's Club 11-05-11

will a basic ruger 10/22 with tech sights work for rimfire rifle?

Worked for me last time. Although strangely enough, I think you'd get better speed with the original Ruger open sights. (Yeah, they still suck, but I think this would be the ONE application that they'd suck less at - SHORT RANGE.)

I'm strongly leaning open rimfire. If we can make a practice beforehand, I may try to get my girlfriend to try it. Open rimfire in steel challenge is probably the easiest place to have a good time at your first match.

All eight stages makes for a long match. Will this mean we will only be shooting one gun?
I believe 1 gun only is the plan, and with this many respondents coming it should be a great match.

Keep an eye open for a practice night JAR, ya never know.
You do know if your a HAS member you can shoot with the SCC folks on Sunday night ?

And as someone stated, shooting this match with a 22 is a blast, cheap ammo, really fast/fun times,
and that son or daughter will have a great day out in the crisp late autumn air with mom or dad,
(or uncle or aunt depending !!)

And for the Gent getting married.....what times the wedding ?

Yes - One gun is the plan for now - if that changes we will post here prior to the match.

If you do plan to shoot having at least 5 mags will speed up your shooting experience.

We've had a lot of replies both here and via email from folks that plan to attend so it should be a good size match with both new and experienced shooters.

IN - New guy question disclaimer. My 1911 .45acp. was considered "single stack" at the only other shoot I did, can I use this gun? I did not see "single stack" listed.

If not S&W M&P 9c, I think would be "production"? Which gun can I use? I am just getting familiar with the different catagories.

I would prefer the 1911 .45acp.

Or this could be an excuse to buy a new gun [grin]

Thanks!!

You would shoot in "Pistol Iron"
