Rumors from a Smith & Wesson Rep: Guns, Cabelas and LL Bean

Anyone have thoughts on safeties (or lack thereof) for a carry gun?
Unnecessary unless it is a SA pistol.

When I carry a semi-auto (traditional double action), it is decocked and off safe. My other carry guns are revovlers.

Any word on a Ma**h*** legal M&P15?

Wouldn't they be legal already as long as they have the right features (stock, no flash suppressor, etc)? There's many other AR15 options so this one doesn't seem like such a big deal.

M+P 15FT is on S+W's website. Says scheduled for release
in december of 2007. It's basically an AWB neutered version of the
fully railed out regular M+P 15.

Geez! I'll get a Bushy instead!

Yeah, of course a BM is going to be cheaper- they don't even
make a rifle with a fully railed forend anymore. They used to
make the modular carbine, and that cost... guess what, $1200! [grin]

Yes, all the extra stuff does increase the cost, unless the foreend
the vendor uses is a total POS.

So yes, of course you can get a BM (or any number of other
vendors) rifle for far less than that- but you're going to end up
with a non railed fore-end.

Where's the "GOTCHA" smilie?

Ask, and it shall be given you.

I just bought four Bushmaster standard A2 versions at $800 each delivered. For some reason the S&W versions are on the dealers shelves for a much higher price.

Mike I agree with you. The first thing I plan on doing once I get the BM is to put some rails on it. The rails + the BM end up costing around $1200 anyway. So get the BM+rails or wait and see if S&W puts out a Mass legal M4 type carbine. I'm partial to the non collapsible collapsible looking stock as opposed to the solid stock. I think it looks cooler.[smile]

Either way I have some time as I'm still in the process of obtaining my license.

I actually hate pinned open collapsible stocks- but thats because
I have a preban where the thing actually "works". On a gun like the
S+W, they would have been a lot better off putting one of
those ACE skeleton stocks on it, like what BM had on their modular
carbine. Maybe S+W rationalized that in fixed-stock land people
want different things, so they just put the cheapest thing they
could find on there. It's probably just a $30 tapco with a bolt
going through it or whatever. [laugh] Thats why I think BM
does the same thing on a lot of its "ban state" guns.
