Hello everyone. I went to 2 FFL’s today to look at Smith and Wesson revolvers (686 and 610). I noticed under the latch of the cylinder where the model number and (sometimes) serial number that there was a rusty brownish color on the revolvers. 4 out of 5 guns I look at had it. All new models

I asked the shop owner about it and he said that Smith has gone to shit and it’s been happening a lot.

Has anyone else seen this? Or knows why this is

Thanks!

Can confirm, most have what you're talking about. Don't know what it is, but could be rust, or could be dried burnt oil/coating from the laser engraver
