Official 1911 Pic Thread...

"I swear Honey, two of the guns in my safe got busy and created this little one!" She didn't buy that and now I am in the doghouse [smile] but it is a sweet compact and perfect in everyway

One on the left sporting a gsg .22 slide is a new to me para frame.
Mix if Wilson combat and ed brown parts.
Just go the msh , wolf sear spring and 80 series frame filler plate.
Need to figure out what I want for a slide.

Duty gun so took a much needed clp bath the other day.

Lately the idea of owning a Colt bit me in the brain and won't let go. This is not good! (For my wallet...)

I have been wanting one of these for some time :) Finally happened. Did you know stainless rusts :( After 6 hours of tapeing , glass beading and hand rubbing she's done.......except for maybe a grip change.

Hey, that Baer's in my collection now. Thanks for that. Great 45 and yes, I changed the grips.

G10 is just the material. Supposed to be durable and not slippery. If you have big hands don't get the slim grips. I don't know if they make fatter grips than the ones that normally come on 1911s.

I think VZ only makes regular or slim fit… If you want something beefier, you might have to go with a Hogue or some kind of rubber grip like that.

This started out as a well lightly used Colt LW Commander(aluminum frame) The frame has some issues as the previous owner had stippled parts of the frame, mainly the front strap. The new owner wanted some upgrades and finish. The slide was fitted with a new Harrison Design rear sight and an XS small plain dot front sight. I fit a new EGW thick flange carry bevel bushing to the original Colt barrel. I turned a spring cap to get it to match the face of the bushing for a flat look. Good friend "Metalsmith" serrated the front of the frame to 20 LPI. I fit a new MSH and beveled the bottom. The owner wanted to keep the Colt thumb and grip safeties. A new Wilson extended slide was added. The original ring style hammer was surface ground to relieve the side to prevent rubbing on the frame. A fresh Grieder trigger was added as well as a trigger job to 5# for carry. The slide was high polished and hot blued. The lower was lightly glass beaded on the exterior only and then sprayed with graphite black Cerakote. Grips are smooth light walnut.
