Newsflash -- No ammo sales at the Walmarts in Framingham and Northboro

Walmart in Manchester NH recently rearranged their sporting department and added a new rack and shelves. They were empty for a few weeks but I went in today and lo and behold there was a pile of black powder guns, ammo, and supplies on the new display. I asked about rifles and shotguns and the clerk said no for now. Maybe the BP stuff will make its way south to you guys though.

Ware still has ammo, but they never have any sales staff that knows that they are doing[thinking]

The last time I bought 100 rounds of .45, the lady dropped two boxes on the floor. First box, she yelled, WOW this stuff is heavy and the grabbed another box and that one hit the floor too. Then she asked me what I was going to hunt today.

I told her a car in Athol.....she was pretty confused, and that's how I left it[grin]

HA!! [laugh2][rofl]

Just a thought

the ammo cases are way in the back of the stroe. The ammo counters
were stocked reasonably well but in plain sight.

might have done this for the anti's who scare easily.

If you're buying 9mm

I've found that Dicks sporting goods has been the cheapest. Remington 500 rounds (case discount) is $89 + tax.

I was in New Hampshire yesterday in Bedford and Walmart's cheapest 9mm is Blazer Brass at something like 9.47 a box. No case Discount. So 500 rounds will cost $94.70 no tax.

Dick's prices are pretty close and you don't have to drive to NH to get it. Plus it's Remington rather than Blazer.

IF they only actually "manned" the lodge - [laugh]

Framingham, Dedham and Saugus are horrible!!! Never an associate in sight! I visit dicks at least quarterly for sneakers since they always have my size - but the damn lodge is always a ghost town!

I've always had better luck at Danvers, but don't really head up that way often nowdays.

Stock up while in NH, gentlemen.

I stopped at the Derry Walmart today and bought 850 rounds in various calibers.

And some laundry detergent.

ROFLMAO, that is the funniest comment I have seen on a forum in a long darn time.

There's a term for that, like some sort of anticlimatic thing.

Hahahha, I cannot get over the subdued irony.

I hit the Worcester store. I just bug the guys in the shoe department until they get someone with the key to the storage closet.

I've been to the Framingham store on several occasions when there wasn't anybody on the entire second floor! What I've found works well is to go tell somebody that nobody is in the lodge so you're going to go behind the counter and help yourself and then walk away. That gets somebody there real quick [smile]

Not to be cute but where in the store in Ware do they hide the ammo? I know in the far left back corner they had the fishing and camping stuff, but I never saw any ammo.

Yeah thats kind of cute[wink]

Yes, all the way in the back by the fishing stuff. It is a cabinet built into the wall. Kind of hidden.

I'm getting to the point where I hate buying anything gun related at Dick's. The last time I bought a case of 9mm at the Dartmouth store, I had to be escorted to the register by someone and I couldn't even carry it I was told.
At least in Taunton I was able to carry 10 boxes of 12 gauge slugs to the register, but was accompanied by a sales manager.

WTF happens if I want to buy a rifle?!?! Black SUVs pull up and guys with suits and black sunglasses escort me out of the store? [rolleyes]

If I'm big chain shopping I'll stick to Wal Mart and paying for my ammo at the sporting goods counter so I can walk right past the welfare folks in line at the resgisters and leave with no hassle.

Uh yeah....pretty much!!

Mikey and I bought a shot gun and we had to be escorted out of the store.

Even after we paid and a were past the registers the manager held the shot gun and walked with us to the parking lot.

Actually I should have been more clear... it was some random worker that the "Lodge" sales rep told to bring the ammo to the register. I offered to carry it but was told the guy could do it for me.

In the Taunton store I was told that when a customer buys ammo they're supposed to be accompanied to the register by a sales associate to let the cashier know their license was already checked.

I bought two long arms at two separate Dick's recently and the Lodge guys were very helpful. However, both of them ranted on and on about all the precautions their Loss Prevention people make them take, including the managerial escort to the parking lot.

The managers at the Framingham Walmart have always been polite, professional, and helpful when I want to buy.

Ya sometimes they check my id at the lodge and at the register, sometimes just one, sometimes neither.
