I don't know. I am not a shot gun guy. I emailed some pics to an other member to post here for me.
The name engraved on the top is
RAICK FRERES LIEGE MAISONFONDEE EN 1807 ACIER KRUPP SUPERIEUR
Might be French
Beautiful gun, a quick google search turned this up: http://www.littlegun.be/arme belge/artisans identifies q r/a raick gb.htm.
Absolutely beautiful! 16 gauge? You should consider having it professionally restored, at least clean up any rust in the engravings.
It might be old enough that it's no longer a gun.
Get more pix of the marking, proof marks, etc.
Remove the foreend, then break the action, the barrels should swing free...then you can get the proof marks, etc
The text you posted seems to indicate that it's a Belgian gun, with Krupp steel barrels.
More pix will help.
those look like firing pins under the hammers, but it probably used black powder shells. it's really in nice condition, well taken care of. someone loved that gun. and the screws aren't too buggered either. pretty nice gift, good for you!Is that muzzle loading?
