Multiple Firefighters shot

Fair enough, just seems like an odd group to target, there aren't that many FF at a fire I wouldn't think. A lot of time police respond to fires as well so you end up with armed personnel on hand.
Unless it's a murder->set the house on fire->attack those who respond->kill self scenario. Someone just trying to do as much damage on their way out as possible?

No. 2 dead. ANd rounds set on fire have very little energy.

In the 70's in NYC, this was a common occurrence where FDNY would show up and take fire. They were also shot at en route. It was the so called "self-cleaning oven" above 120th st leaking fumes. There is a lot of anti-government angst in many quarters including immigrants, blacks and latinos.
Not saying that's what this is, but shooting at 1st responders is sadly not new.
Just heard on the news that the shooter is now dead. No other details though.

RE: ACTIVE SHOOTER INCIDENT AT BUILDING FIRE
Brothers & Sisters:
At a time when we are attempting to heal from the tragic events that unfolded in Connecticut, and when we should be enjoying the holidays with family and friends; Firefighters in Webster, NY who were dispatched to a working building fire this morning found themselves in the middle of an active shooter incident.
A report from the IAFF District 1 Vice President has confirmed two volunteer fire fighters, one who is also a 19 year veteran Police Officer of the Webster PD, the other a 19 year old volunteer firefighter have both been confirmed dead.
A Rochester, NY (IAFF Local 1071) member who was also volunteering suffered multiple gun shot wounds to his back and the back of his legs. We have learned he was airlifted and is currently undergoing emergency surgery and is listed in critical condition.
The scene has been reported as very active, difficult to control by both Law Enforcement and Fire Suppression assets, and the fire has consumed three additional buildings.
We will continue to update you as additional information becomes available.
At this time we ask you please keep the families of the deceased and the brothers and sisters working in Webster in your thoughts and prayers.

Too many incidents in too short a time period intentionally targeting the victims that will get the most bang for the buck emotionally not only from the anti gunners but also from the undecided voters. These last few months reek of shananigans....
CNN reports, "not sure if an assault rifle was used yet". Then other reporter, "it likely was, if he got off that many shots that quickly". Terrific!
You can shoot and load a Garand pretty much as fast. These people are morons. Someone should tell them about the old bolt gun drills from back in the day where they could get like 50 shots on target in a minute at 100 yards.

Wow, even for those who try not to take a tinfoil angle on things, it's getting quite convenient timing wise. One or 2 more of these tragedies whether staged, or not, the bulk of the population will be in full support of an EO to bypass Congress. Webster Police Chief Gerald Pickering says 62-year-old William Spengler was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot to the head. He had served 17 years for manslaughter in the death of his grandmother. Police say he set fire to a car and house to lure firefighters to his house. When firefighters arrived, he opened fire, probably with a rifle.

It's possible that a fire set off rounds - it's not really possible that the firefighters got "shot":
If the government is trying to say that rounds going off in a fire "shot" a bunch of firefighters - they're full of shit and basically trying to pile on in the wake of the CT shooting.

this happened in the '68 riots...Chicago, Baltimore and Boston. picking off firemen in Roxbury responding to fires..[sad2]
