Who hates firefighters? I mean, I could see the guy luring cops there, if he was just going to kill himself in the end, but firefighters? Of course he killed himself, now we'll never know what his problem was.

It's possible that a fire set off rounds - it's not really possible that the firefighters got "shot":


If the government is trying to say that rounds going off in a fire "shot" a bunch of firefighters - they're full of shit and basically trying to pile on in the wake of the CT shooting.

The initial article stated shots fired, nothing about injuries, it was updated after I posted stating firefighters were shot.

I know that area well I have a couple of customers in Webster Xerox and Paychex, an absolutely beautiful part of New York.
I remember years ago , perhaps in the late 70's when people in the Great Brook Valley ghetto had started a fire and then when the FD would come, they were dropping appliances on them. Happened more than once over the course of a summer. Even now, I don't think the WFD will respond without police backup.
All you first responders, please keep safe, your jobs need not be made more difficult by these dirtbags. God bless these firefighters and their families, I'm truly sorry for the loss of this atrocity

my friend did rubbish pickup and they werent allowed there w/out a police escort. i dont know if this is the case still but that place (like too many others) is an embarrassment to MA.

Just finished listening to the audio. As a firefighter paramedic i know I will be looking over my shoulder for the next couple of weeks. Its a sad day when you lose a fellow brother in the line of duty. Its even worse when its preventable.

It may or may not have made a difference. If they were taking any sort of rifle fire from a decent range the end result probably would have been the same. Not everything is preventable, even with CCW. An ambush is an ambush.

The first house that was burned was the house where the killer lived when he killed his grandmother, who lived next door. It's a nice area, and its a real shame that, because of this killer, 4 houses burned... the day before Christmas.

Maybe not, he had already got the jump on them but just as some police are now training for situations where even if one officer is on scene they are to go in and put down some supressive fire so the assailant may take cover. That might have gave them time to pull the wounded to safety and save them.
