I don't have a dog in the liberal vs conservative argument, but I am offended whenever people are categorized in one of the camps as being "anti-gun." It's never so simple. I have a central Mass certified pistol instructor who is wildly anti-NRA. He specializes in teaching troopers how to survive. I also have a close friend who is about as right wing as you'll find; he hates guns, and anyone who owns one. I'm yet to admit I'm a shooter when I'm around him.
Since anyone on the internet has a friend of a second cousin who's late uncle who (insert activity, opinion, belief here)...lets leave personal, private relationships out of this.
Liberalism is embodied by the Democrat Party...The Democrat Party is anti gun. Liberals...anti gun or pro gun tend to vote for Democrats...advancing the anti gun agenda. Now, not every Democrat is anti gun...but as a group, as a whole and as an ideology they are voraciously anti gun. Therefore...I think it is fair to say Liberals do not like guns...without having to exclude the handful you may know who buck that trend.
The more people I know, the more I realize that nothing is as simple as this thread seems to indicate. Perhaps there's a general tilt by liberals to favor gun control. Perhaps there's a general tilt by conservatives to support gun ownership. But tossing all liberals into an anti-gun category is beyond stupid. And the reverse is true.
There is no general tilt about either groups position on this issue... one of the bedrock beliefs of Liberalism is that guns are bad, and one of the bedrock beliefs of Conservatives is that the 2nd amendment guarantees us the right to own a firearm, if we choose, without seeking consent or regulation from the government.
Btw, calling Mao, Stalin, Lenin, and Castro liberals is absurd. It's a gross ignorance of history.
