To get my LTC, and FID, I never took a formal class.
Most people that I've shot with, would say I'm safe.
I learned from my dad. My kids have learned from me.
But to get an FID or LTC, they will have to take a class. Why?
If it's about safety, why is a Hunter Ed course statutorily acceptable for LTC issuance, when there is no actual firearm handling, much less live fire in that class?
Because it's not about enhancing safety, it's about enhancing control.
If the state can mandate a trainigng class that includes XYZ at a cost of $$, they can easily mandate STUVWXYZ at a cost of $$$$.
Don't believe it? My lifetime (indefinite unless suspended or revoked ) FID was made null and void, and renewable at $100 /6 years.
This is the philosophical argument against state-mandated training.
Everyone should get trained, but they should NOT be told to do it.
