Is it a dumb idea to carry wadcutters in this day and age? They seem to be pretty effective and the recoil is minimal.

I think I have a box of 9mm hydra shock in the cabinet. My instructor gave them to me after I got my ltc.

It was basically crap, HST is a much better bullet. Hydra-Shok was only decent in 9mm and one or two other loads. The 45 hydrashok 230 load was marginal, acting like hot ball ammo in gel/denim tests.

All lead, +P, semi wad cutter hollow point. They are almost impossible to find now.

I think it's a relatively soft lead semi wadcutter hollow point at about 900 fps. It shouldn't be hard to duplicate.

How is the LCR ?
Looking at the LCR and SP101 in 357

LCR is great, unless you shoot .357 through it. I've had my .38 LCR for a decade or so and still carry it sometimes; just shot it three days ago as a matter of fact.

My wife likes the LCR .38 for a carry gun. She doesn't like semi auto pistols as carry guns because she feels too much can go wrong in the moment. She's probably right.

I ran my 442 in a steel match over the weekend. I think competing with your choice of carry is both good practice, and a solid reality check.

There's a good reason there are a bunch of 9mm semiautos with slide mounted red dots.

I have about 4 S&W revolvers. I've never owned one with the Hillary hole and never will. One of the dumbest things S&W ever did.
