That's obvious but we're getting to the point where the state is so anti gun random people will call the cops if they even see you with a gun case.

The "assault weapon" thing is so crazy they even go after their own.

Curtin's case for improper storage was continued without a finding so not totally broomed.

The penalty for anything that he's convicted of, should be 2x what Joe C. Villian would get. If cops are enforcing the laws, they should have a better understanding than non-cops. If they know the rules better than the non-cops, then breaking them has even less of an excuse.

Of course, in this case, the problem for the cop, was that it was a domestic dispute, which ups the ante.
 
I’m presuming that the vast majority of brooming occurs when no public incident is known. E.g. fellow cops come over to house and see improperly stored firearms, but do nothing. No charges because of LE brotherhood status. No way to prove that though.
