Actress JODIE FOSTER has hit out at America's abundance of firearms, insisting all guns should be banned. Foster, who plays an urban vigilante in new movie The Brave One, believes her anti-gun stance is out of step with the beliefs of most of her countrymen. She says, "I don't believe that any gun should be in the hand of a thinking, feeling, breathing human being. Americans are by nature filled with rage-slash-fear. And guns are a huge part of our culture. "I know I'm crazy because I'm only supposed to say that in Europe. But violence corrupts absolutely."

I haven't seen the movie yet, but if its anything like I think it is.... Then she's insane! Major double standard....

Yet she has no problem starring in her latest movie which shows her shooting a bunch of bad guys.

I guess she just wants the money.

Whore.

I understand your point of view, it does seem odd. But she's an actress. Its a job. Does that mean they should only play parts that mirror their personal opinions?

Many of us work for companies that have a different stance on guns. I don't see us quitting in protest. [thinking]

If we boycotted all the actors and entertainers who disagreed with us on RKBA there wouldn't be much left to watch. Maybe that wouldn't be such a bad thing, come to think of it.

I first saw the trailer on the internet and thought it must be a great film. Femal protagonist faces horrible truama, begins to CCW and fights back againt violent crime.

...I missed the whole bit about her being a vigilante.

because of course a non Cop/Soldier using a gun needs to be in an illigal maner. (and usally the whole Soldier thing is ALSO in an illigal maner in Hollywood).

This is great comming from a woman who has relied on armed security to protect her life in the past.

I’m shocked, and although I’ll still see her movies, I don’t believe we’re compatible anymore and kids are definitely out of the question! :)

Respectfully,

I'm sick of politicians and celebrities talking the talk but not walking the walk. Whether it's Al Gore flying on a private jet or John Edwards living in a 28,000 square foot house while exhorting the "little folks" like us to fight global warming or d-bags like Jodie Foster making a living in movies like her latest while calling for a ban on guns, it's pissing me off.

It's cool, you can still like her movies. And the lesbian thing is hot. I hope there is a movie in the works about it, with an "X" or two in the rating.

One of my favorite bands is made up of a bunch of hardcore communists, but their music still rocks my world.

Why are you surprised that people that get paid to talk or be someone they're not don't follow what they seeminly preach? [shocked]

And why do you care? [thinking]

Al Gore offends me as a scientist with his mumbo jumbo about global warming. I can't plot data with known points to look like the data that he gathered. And the thing with Edwards, I liked him okay as democrats go but he's just like the rest of them... let's give the "little guy" a break so long as it doesn't affect my massive bank account but we can screw everybody else over. I'm more of a "let's let people run their own lives kind of guy and not tax 'em for anything except for law enforcement and military" kind of guy.

I have to wonder if these idiots get this point of view because the only experience they HAVE with American gun-owners is in the fantasies they bring to the silver screen. IOW, they know Paul Kersey (Death Wish with Charles Bronson), but they don't know Ross (dwarven1), Derek, Jen (SiameseRat), Lynne, etc - reasonably typical gun owners (with way too much time to spend posting on the internet).

So they're basing their thinking on the fallacy that movies:=real life. After all, since Stallone goes nuts in First Blood, he automatically thinks that every vet is like his character... whereas people like my friends Dave M, Steve H., Steve B are all normal, salt of the earth types. Heck, two of the three afore-mentioned vets don't even own GUNS these days... and I have no idea when the last time the third one even went to the range is! But no one makes movies about a National Service Director, a disabled mechanical engineer dealing with dementia brought about by exposure to Agent Orange and a school teacher who works as a security guard. I guess they're not "real" enough. [rolleyes]

Wish there was a way to drag these morons out of their ivory tower and bring them to a gun range so that they could meet some REAL American gun owners.

And why do you care?

Why do I care? You know, I've been thinking about this question all day.

This is why I care: Because she is, quite simply, my enemy. Anyone who holds the opinion that my right to keep and bear arms should be eliminated is my enemy. It doesn't matter if they are an actor, a politician, a cop, a doctor, a teacher or anything else, they are my enemy.

It's easy for us to sit back and say "aww, who cares? She's just some ditzy actress!" And while we do this our rights are slowly and surely being eroded. For every cosmetic pro-gun piece of legislation passed there are dozens of laws being proposed that infringe on our right to bear arms. And again, we sit back and say (for example) "no big deal .. that law just updates the background check database and adds people with mental illness." That's all well and good until the day Schumer or Lautenberg or Feinstein figures out a way to add us to the list. What will you say then? Is it still no big deal?

So sure, go ahead and figure she's just some ditzy actress and her opinion doesn't matter. Unfortunately, there are huge swaths of people in this country stupid enough to think her opinion does matter. And one of them might be in a position some day to try and limit our freedom. What then?

The direction our country is taking and the erosion of our God-given rights has been on my mind quite a bit more than usual lately so perhaps I'm overeacting but I honestly think we're soon going to hit a tipping point. It may be gun control or it may be something else entirely but I have a sinking feeling that the proverbial sh*t is gonna hit the fan when enough people get fed up.

I wonder who's she gonna call when some armed pysco tries to kidnap/kill her? She can call the police but then again they use guns. I also wonder if shes ever had an armed body guard.

Doesn't surprise me at all.

A large part of hollywood actors/actresses all come from schools with
flamingly socialist slants, etc... and unless the person is either "out of
band" (eg, a person that became famous by indirect means) or is
intelligent enough to see beyond the BS that gets spewed at them,
you just end up with a socialist robot as the end product.

I just watch movies going in knowing that 9 out of 10 times the
actor/actress is a commie. As Dick wisely states, if we stopped
watching movies based upon the political slant of the staff that
makes them there wouldn't be that many left to watch. As it
stands I might see a handful of movies every year, most of which I
don't even end up paying for.

Americans are by nature filled with rage-slash-fear.
More out of touch BS from "The Land Of Make-Believe".

How can you take seriously someone who's job is to pretend they are someone or something they are not?

I'd say thats a pretty large dose of wishful thinking- IMO most of
these people are pretty hardcore-intentional socialists; they
believe in the whole George Soros globalist utopia pie in the sky
thing, they send money to globalist/turd world charities, probably
play kiss and tell with IANSA, etc... They tend to be fully invested
in their brain disease; contrast that to a neighbor who happens to be
an incidental socialist simply because they don't know any better.
Some of those people, you can make them stop and think about the
choices they're making.... on the other hand, someone like foster, who
made a statement like that- it's obvious she's thought about it already
and chosen to make her shitty statement. (because she actually believes
it).

What a fu*&ing hypocrite. She makes a movie about a women who decides to arm herself and hunt down the scum that killed her boyfriend and then starts ranting about us common folk not being trustworthy enough to possess a firearm. POS!

pisses me off, why didn't she refuse to wave a gun around (and pump the bad guy full of holes) in silence of the lambs?

She`s a typical Hollyweird actress that can afford to live in a gated community and hire private security to protect her and her family. She doesn`t give a shit about the rest of us even thou she`d probably say something like she`s just trying to protect the children from gun violence.
She doesn`t matter.
