C-pher, please take the chip off your shoulder. Your last response was the most productive . . .
If I ask someone in an aisle and they go to someone at the counter and get "no", I take their word for it just like I would in any retail store. I don't have (nor want) a "search warrant" to go searching for the stuff in the back room.
Someone else (who seems to sound like he "knows", perhaps he also works there?), stated above that "they have them but they aren't for sale yet". OK, that response sounded logical to me.
Every one of us is an individual as to "how we shop". I am a "rifle shot shopper" . . . in a store, I walk direct to a department, search for the item I am interested in, if I don't find it I may ask one person then I'm out the door. If items are not priced, I will not usually ask, just move on (old adage "if you have to ask, you can't afford it"
). Others may search and search, ask a dozen people, ask for a special order, etc. Just not my style of shopping.
The UMC bulk packs (250 rds, 9mm/.40/.45) weren't priced and I broke my usual rule (figuring 1st day, they missed pricing them so I'll cut them a break) and asked a clerk for the prices. It took ~10 minutes (madhouse Wed evening) to get the prices (no hand scanners around and had to wait for the one register to be free to get pricing). I waited patiently, the clerk apologized and I told him not to sweat it . . . I understood the "newbie pains" of the system and do expect that things will smooth out over the next few months.
BTW: On price matching . . . I don't expect any store to price match when the two stores sell different brands or different package sizes. Take the UMC 9mm just for example. UMC 9mm 250 rd pack at BP was $44.xx (equivalent $8.8x/box). Dick's semi-regular sale is $6.98/box in quantity 10 or more. [I usually buy in 500 or 1K quantities so multiple boxes of any size is not an issue to me.] Personally I'm not going to try to convince anyone in any store to match that sort of deal, I just politely say "thank you" and move on . . . buying elsewhere.
This is just me and others may do other things to try to match or make a deal. I'm a potential customer . . . am I like the other potential customers? I have no idea.
