GOAL Response To AG Healey’s Actions - Rally Sat 7/23 @ 10:00 AM

I have to say; the gun club emails are great. The unified message that many clubs sent out helped get people out no doubt. The 400,000 gun owners in MA may not be members of NES, GOAL, or Comm2A - but many are members of gun clubs. These gun clubs sending out these emails are a huge help in getting the message out.

Ultimately this is how you have to recruit and coordinate with people - gun clubs and gun club emails/forums.

Most bigger clubs will have a "political officer" now. The guy who coordinates with the state and national gun groups. I've been a member of three gun clubs so far, 2 in RI and one in NH. The club that was best politically organized was Wallum Lake in Burrillville, RI.

The gun club is the grassroots level. People can just delete emails, but if you have a cell of people at each gun club who are working (and shooting) at every club, you have the chance to make more connections.

In RI, most if not all of the clubs "answer" to or at least work with Federated Sportsmen, which is sort of the RI hunting and gun rights group on the state level. There is the actual RI NRA affiliate group but I only saw those guys at bill hearings. Federated was the group. Does Mass have a similar relationship between a gun group and clubs?

There's also the FUDDs who think that this won't affect them since Maura's only going after the evil extra killy rifles with the shoulder things, at least at this time. One thing that stood out to me at the rally was the chant, "if it can happen to us, it can happen to you!" I think this point needs to be driven home with ALL gun owners in this state, and to a broader extent, the peasants of the commiewealth. I was trying to convince one of my buddies to go, but his attitude was that it would be for nothing, since "Massachusetts government has and always will be corrupt, and there's nothing that we can do to change that." I was disappointed with his line of thinking, but can't say I blame him.

Yes this is the problem. One of my buddies said "meh, Baker will overturn or the courts will overturn it. No big deal."

No, you don't understand. Baker is in on this too and he isn't coming to help us. Courts could take years... And that's if it even wins in court... If it doesn't, this "cancer" will start to spread from on AG to the next. They have more power than the president of the United States right now.

It amazes me that this state has seen more people killed and injured with a pressure cooker than with semi-auto rifles, but this clam makes gun owners and makers, criminals.

What we need is politicians that are not afraid to speak the truth. Boston, Orlando, Dallas, Ft. Hood, Paris, Niece, Munich. The common denominator is not a firearm. It is radical Islam. But to say it out loud takes courage and risks political ruin.
It is also much, much harder to go after radical Muslims. They do not have to register with the government the way a gun buyer does.

It is scary to think that they know more about us, having made a firearms purchase, than they know about some crazy bastard that publicly calls for death and destruction on social media. What is worse is that some of these mosques are meeting grounds and havens for terrorism, but our elected officials not only don't have the balls to call them out on it, but they vilify those of us that have the common sense to notice the problem.

The timing of this was no accident. One thing i took from yesterday was the fact that this was don't just to get Hillary's attention just before the convention. She knows that these guns have never been a problem in Massachusetts. She's just sucking up to pants suit. I too have some friends that had bogus excuses for not going yesterday. I was happy and proud to be there. I felt very proud of my >5000 new friends.

I saw blue rifles in some of the pics on the table that I did not see in person. What's the deal with those?

Training guns.

http://www.blueguns.com/default.asp

Guys were up front holding them in slings. Might have been NRA reps. My twisted brain immediately adapted a Stones song, "I see a blue gun and I want to paint it black..."

edit-

Or should we all show up with AR's painted blue. Maybe day-glo orange muzzle tips?

At the end of the day this document does nothing...it is just say they are unhappy they were not included. What it should have said is **** you all current laws should be abolished. They say just enough to keep us all happy yet not enough to rock the boat.

Quick question. I saw an article on FB from GOAL. One part of it said that GOAL strongly suggests not bringing your AR to gun ranges. Why?

Gun Grabbing Jack booted thugs will be at the gates waiting to take it......Once it is taken they will hide behind a cloudy supposed law, it will take you years to get it back. Actually you will never get it back. Me I'm off to the rang this morning....Rapid fire Rocks!

for real? Is that really a concern?

All it takes is one overzealous officer and DA to cost you thousands in legal fees now that the AG has spoken.

Nobody knows what will happen next. Confiscation of 'assault weapons' is certainly a possibility now, however I suspect their advice is simply an overabundance of caution. Proceed about your life at your own comfort level.

This.

It all depends on how your local LE view citizen ownership of modern sporting rifles - If they're against it, they could confiscate your rifle while they investigate whether or not you possessed it before 7/20/2016.

The scary part about this whole thing is that the AG declared ALL post-'94 "MA-compliant" rifles illegal, but said she wouldn't prosecute those of us that have them now. However, she seldom prosecutes anybody. Your local county DA's office does though, and since she declared us all felons, our local DA can have us arrested. They do not work for Healey, and they are under absolutely no obligation to abide by her amnesty promise. If they prosecute, she cannot call them off (nor would she).

And this is the heart of the matter. Get pulled over for a minor traffic violation, cop sees you have an LTC, quick search and you show up as an owner of an illegal firearm. BOOM!

probable cause to search? don't give permission obviously

as far as going to the range, upcoming 3 gun matches will go on as planned I'm sure and there WILL be LE attending and participating so I don't see why you should not bring one to the range. Don't be terrorized by the directive, it is not a regulation.

You've made a big jump from "minor traffic violation" to "quick search." Just say no.

How many times in history have cops just said You don't want me to search? Oh, OK, then, have a nice night"? Probable cause can be invented an any circumstance. Of course it might be tossed out in court, but significant damage will almost certainly have been done already by that point.

True, but I've been pulled over a dozen times in my life, in many different states, and I've never come close to getting searched. Granted, I'm white (not really joking there), and I wouldn't want to generalize from my own experiences; I'm just wondering how common it really is.

No stickers on car, no range equipment in back seat, and nothing identifying you as a gun owner... This is seriously what MA has come to: Your basic rights are held hostage at the whim of a dictator. This state can no longer even masquerade as a democracy.

That's how I roll on the way to the range. I leave the diesel pickup at home, and take the dinky little Subaru. No stickers, everything out of sight. Even before this week, I always felt like I had a kilo of cocaine in the trunk whenever I was on the way to the range.

It shouldn't have to be that way, but that's the way it is I guess. Not for long, making preps to move to NH.

Fun fact though... if you have a vehicle registered commercially they can't tell if you have a LTC when you are pulled over. This was told to me by a LEO friend of mine, who said criminals use it as a way to get around without cops knowing their record.

Since we are all criminals now, we should really start learning from our peers.

I live in NH and I drive a blue Volvo sedan with no bumper stickers or the like. I also don't leave valuable stuff either in the car or visible.

It has nothing to do with politics and everything to do with "I don't want some methead stealing my stuff."

Oh and for the Jeep guys - a good friend of mine in Alabama would play a game. It's called "how much stuff can I steal from an open vehicle?" Quite a lot, actually.

I always thought everyone had enough common sense to do stuff like locking doors and keeping valuables safe.

Thought. Wouldn't this be similar to the VW issue. According to the AG the mfgs knowing committed the crime of making and selling. We as customers purchased in good faith and should not be liable. I thought the ATF or other licensed the mfg and inspected their products. So now wouldn't the federal gov be liable for letting us purchase illegal products.

From what I understand, from 1994-2004 the ATF was the final word on whether or not a firearm was in compliance with the Federal AWB. After it sunsetted, they no longer filled that role. So we were left in limbo as to what is a muzzle brake, and what is a flash suppressor, etc.

It is now in the wheelhouse of whatever prosecutor decides to file charges... YAY!!!
