All these nominations are going to be, from our perspective, a choice between a shit sandwich and a puke sandwich.

"It could be worse" is going to be something we can say on a good day.
 
I think Garland won't be too bad. He's an old hand (I know aka deep state), but I don't think of him as a political crony. Early one, I was worried Biden would nominate someone Kamal Harris or someone like her. He's gone with a DOJ traditionalist. As much as I'd like to see reform there (e.g. putting the end to coercive plea bargaining), Garland isn't going to be the banner waiving progressive that Harris or Healey could have been. We'll just have to hold our breath and see.

I was a hardcore liberal when I was young, joined Army Reserve at 33 yrs old as an 11B. Been fighting since but I live in Ma. so that hampers our efforts. If daughter and family didn't reside in Ma. I'd be long gone. Recent events have me rethinking my retirement plans thou.

Agreed. When Obama nominated Garland it was because he knew he had to nominate someone Republicans would confirm (even though in the end he happened to be wrong). Several Republicans spoke favorably of Garland. Sure, we can all look at a decision here or there, but this seems like a relatively tame pick considering the other directions Biden could have gone in....

Be thankful you have that option. I'll probably never get to leave MA. For all its faults, there isn't anywhere else I'd be able to get the level of services my kids need and will need for the rest of their lives. It sucks.

Things have changed because of Donald J. Trump. The left has become more radical and embraced violence which it never did under Barry. The left needs to destroy us NOW because they fear another Trump and the armed population. They were caught off guard by the Trump election and they will never let it happen again. They are out for revenge and expect total capitulation from us or else. It is NOT 2012!

The 'don't trust anyone over thirty' generation is now asking for elder respect. Boomers have zero self awareness. Respect for elders is not arbitrary. Call to respect elders is pathetic coming from a boomer, boomers invented the old age home industry to toss your elders in while not having enough kids to keep families self sufficient. Another way boomers weakened the country. Heard a Dr recently surmising that old people aren't respected anymore because modern old people are decrepit. Used to be old people still worked and moved and got things done, of course they weren't as strong as when they were young but they were miles healthier than current old boomers. You will get the respect you deserve not arbitrary respect because you are old.
