FFL Refuses Transfer Because Address on LTC not matching DL address

So then, you have done many transactions through GunBroker. Why did you pick this idiot FFL this time, instead of the ones that have worked well all these other times? Do you like to just try new FFLs to keep the spice in life alive?

Like I said, his shop is 5 mins from me, so thought how great it would be to have an FFL that close. Called him on the phone before I made the purchase and he seemed normal. Didn't mention any weird store policy.

It wasn't until I showed up to his store that he became an A-hole. The moment I walked into the door he was rude, practically yelling at me that we would have to do the transfer another day because he was too busy. I was courteous and understanding of his time, and agreed to come back the next day. Next day came and again, rude. Upon seeing that my LTC card address doesn't match my DL address he barked at me that he can't do the transfer and rudely explained how the FBI requires that both addresses match. I tried to politely explain to him that my address is correct in the MERCS system, which I have verified, and he wanted nothing to do with it.

ANYWAYS... I'm repeating myself.

I'm relatively new to my town (2 years) and this is the first time I've purchased a firearm while living in this town. Having lived in numerous towns in MA, and other states, having purchased firearms in all of them, I never expected this kind of interaction. Now I know that I should find a good, reliable, SANE, FFL near me. Thanks to some folks here I have a few options now.

Mmhmmm.

That's just what a bot would say.

Brand new for $499...shipping was free. I thought that was a great price. I've purchased and sold many firearms through GunBroker, never had a problem until this guy. I do prefer doing business in person, but as far as I know there aren't any MA compliant P365's available near me right now. Also, since I'm planning for this to be my new carry pistol I wanted it to be MA compliant (aka on the roster).

I don't think this is a normal issue for buying guns online. This guy is just a lunatic.

Lesson learned. I should have just went with the FFL I trusted more. Thought this would be easier since he is so close to me (5 min down the road).
Compliance has zero to do with what you can carry - it's what a dealer can transfer to you.

Yes, I understand that. Perhaps I misspoke. Without finding a good price on a new P365 in my area, I am forced to purchase through a dealer - hence the requirement for MA roster approval.

And now you know that off roster new is possible with the right FFL - live and learn, we all have stories of expensive/painful education.

Not exactly an option for me since I don't personally know any FFLs in my area. Regardless, I purchased the pistol that I want (P365 with thumb safety and RMRc cut) for a decent price and there never should have been a painful lesson to be learned in the first place.

I completely agree - should have been zero pain but this state is hell bent on harassing anyone thinking about self reliance.

Worth a phone call to ODS Guns in Yarmouth, next time you're shopping. They had a bunch of 365s last time i was there and the Sig reps happened to be in the store and were able to answer a few questions I had.

edit to add: You might also consider them for a transfer if you don't already have that lined up.

Just a guess, but he was probably pissed you were transferring a gun that he could have made more money on selling you himself.
If thats his attitude he should increase the price of his transfers and stop being a dick.
I always ask my local guy if he can get me something before I ask him to transfer anything new thats readily available.
I figure saving a few bucks isnt worth it if the guys isnt still in busness to transfer my oddball Gunbroker finds.

There’s no gun shop there, it’s a hardware store and an FFL pretty sure he must just do transfers, cause I’ve been in there for hardware a hundred times over the past 15 years and never noticed any guns.

Update: Pistol is officially in the possession of USPS and on its way back to the original sender. Sigh of relief. What a pain in the ass!

I thanked him for promptly sending it back and sent him a copy of the Code of Federal Regulations to help him brush up on how to properly transfer a firearm.

Here's all the info I have of him so that you can avoid this schmuck in the future:

Name: Peter Raymond DiAngelis
Business Address: North Falmouth Hardware and Marine, 91 County Rd, North Falmouth, MA 02556
Home Address: 44 Galleon Dr, East Falmouth, MA 02536
FFL info: DIANGELIS, PETER RAYMOND (6-04-001-01-6G-05192) - FFL Scope

There is another way to do it. Robot capchas will need some good image analysis software to handle the "check all squares that contain smeggledorfs" or present a character string in a twisted hard to read manner and require you to enter it.

So, a solution to enlist others to manually process the captcha for compensation your provide. The compensation would be entertainment.

Start a porn site. Require a captcha to enter.

Write wrapper for your bots to access captcha sites. When the wrapper encounters a captca, serve it up on the port site, capture the information from the user, and use this to validate the captcha on the site your wrapper is intending to access. For consistency, serve a real captcha on the entertainment site if your wrapper is not using one.

Why a porn site? An easy way to get sufficient traffic to have users online 24x7 who can do the captcha work for you.

Move to some place where nobody wants your DL to match your hall pass because there is no hall pass. Also telling the world who the FFL is not ratting out. It's akin to any other retailer's review that one might find available to read. Are FFLs some kind of special revered citizens who can do no wrong?

Speaking as a guy who "liked" some of the ratting comments, I don't think people were using that term in talking about outing him here on NES. They were using it to describe calling the cops or the Feds on him.

A Patriots fan, eh?!

Next time I go to a Pats game I’m going to look for a middle-aged, slightly overweight guy with a goatee and Red Sox hat - and I’m going to give him a piece of my mind!

Maybe that guy should stick to being only a hardware store owner and selling only Toilet plungers, Hammers and nails and Screwdrivers. Instead of being a so-called FFL dealer not knowing the correct laws and procedures.
