Ct loon: tax write off for turning in your AR15

If at first you don't succeed...

She looks like a sickly Keith Richards in drag...

Antidote for Viagra. BTW, thanks for ruining my mood. My wife just asked me why we're not having sex tonight. [angry]

Guys, this is a cash windfall.

M&P Sport is what? $600. Credit is $2,000.

That is a net cash savings of $1,400 a year... Buy the rifle Jan 1, shoot the shit out of it with Tula and trade it in for a new one December 30th.

This is win legislation if I've ever seen.

credit is up to $2000...but the above idea seems perfect :)

A tax credit. A credit is a dollar for dollar reduction of tax. A credit is superior to a writeoff, which is a deduction or dollar for dollar reduction of taxable income.

This is like printing money. SHit a lower is what? $75? OMG, I'm never paying tax again!

Hmm, so you're saying if I went out and bought say 4 lowers, I could then turn them into my local PD and get a slip for 4 "assault rifles according to the looney bin" and then put almost $8k in my pocket next year?? If that's true, I need to get a MG license :)

This would only be a state Tax deduction so you won't be making bank. Based on a 6% tax which is close to CT tax rate. A $2000 tax credit only lowers your taxes a little bit. You would only net around $120 with a $2k deduction. You don't get paid $2k. If so everyone would turn them all in and go buy even more with the money.

You're confusing credit with deduction. A credit is a dollar for dollar reduction of tax. Therefore a 2k reduction of tax.
A deduction is a reduction of taxable income, which nets you the $120.

My understanding is they are offering a credit, which means my original figure of a $1,400 cash windfall holds true.

She's no fashion queen, that's for sure.

Almost looks like she gets her clothing (including glasses), from the Elton John collection..

Holy Christ, who shot the couch?

I mean, this is a cry for help. How can someone walk around this way in public and garner respect. How in the world does someone look at this and say, "Yes. I want this woman to represent me in government, she will duly carry out my thoughts and wishes in our representative system of government."

I'd sooner elect Vermin Supreme, but then again, he's presidential material.

Have you read her proposed bill? Here it is: http://delauro.house.gov/images/pdf/SAFERStreetsAct114th.pdf

It's a one time Federal (not state!) income tax credit (not a deduction!) of $2,000 payable over two tax years ($1,000 first year/$1,000 second year). And you don't even have to turn in a whole working gun. A cheap polymer lower receiver is enough to get the full $2,000 tax credit! [grin]

I think this is a GREAT bill. [smile] I plan to support the ugly socialist gun-grabbing witch! [thumbsup]

How does a state give a Federal Tax credit? I'm not that versed in politics and frankly never plan to be.

If it works like that I'd just buy an 80% poly lower. Do a half assed mill job and turn it in.

By the way, I am still opposed to any gun grabbing bill. One bill just leads to the next.

I doubt it'll go anywhere.

And for the love of all that is holy, can we PLEASE STOP posting photos of the Stupid Witch of New Haven? Gah.

I kind of hope this passes so I can grab $1600 in tax credit.

I'm trying to figure out how many drinks it would take... I don't think they make booze strong enough.

I mean, maybe she's worth a couple hundred million? That should take the edge off.

My hand hovered over the neg rep button for a few seconds before I decided to be merciful. Much more merciful than you were to us.

<snip>
There is no reason on earth, other than to kill as many people as possible in as short a time as possible, that anyone needs a gun designed for a battlefield.
<snip>

If 3 people break in to my house, why would I want to have a gun limited to 10, or even 15 rounds before reloading? I don't hunt, I never have hunted, I don't plan ever TO hunt. Yet I own a WASR, pistol-caliber carbines, and Lady Radtekk is getting an AR as a wedding gift. Guess why...
