I know I'll get a lot of flack for this, but I don't give a shit anymore. Open carry protests are just ****ing stupid. The success of pro 2A activism is actually winning more hearts and minds than the dried up whores at MDA can tolerate, we are beating them at every turn for the simple fact that in the United States, we really HATE being told what to do, even more when they tell us what to THINK.
That said, we have to realize that no matter what, some people are afraid of guns and its an obstacle no amount of education, no matter how well intended, is going to overcome. We get way further by calmly reciting facts to the masses of red faced bullies, and yeah, I am referring to mothers with children, than we do by showing off our hardware as if its a fashion statement.
I always carry in Chipotle... Just in case I need to go in to Trader Joe's after.
Whenever I feel like a good burrito, I just fly down to Mexico. Powdered burritos dusted with coke.
saw this in the m4c thread on this topic...
this is one of those times I miss ChetD and his out right hatred for the fatties.
. . . Of course as with other demanding moms press releases, Chipoltles didn't actually prohibit anything, they're simply asking that customers not bring firearms into their restaurants.
I agree. They are on his payroll.Another win for the MOMs thanks to open carry dooshbaggery. Honestly I would rather not eat lunch next to some 400 lb tool with his GAY-R 15 slung. Since he is so fat, the barrel is going to be pointing in an unsafe direction anyway. Pistols don't phase me and this nonsense would probabl not be coming to a head if these idiots would stop forcing businesses into a position where they have to make a choice.
I swear these guys must be on bloomturd's payroll

Regardless of what they "ask" customers to do, I'm still going to patronize them, and I'm still going to carry concealed on their property. I honestly think that their intention was to allow concealed carry while putting a stop to the asinine open rifle carry. If they wanted an outright ban, they could easily have done so. It's private property, and such is their right. Instead, they ask in a roundabout way for their patrons to avoid seeing firearms being openly carried.
It's easy to call for a boycott, and if that's what you choose to do, that is your right. Do you also boycott every MA and CT business that pays taxes to the state government that support neutered 2A laws?
I've said it before and I'll say it again... we can be our own worst enemies at times.
I'm all for open carry, if that's how someone chooses to do so.
But, these open display gatherings, with slung AR's (or any guns for that matter)?
WTF is the purpose... I mean really?
The ones organizing them and/or attending need a punch in the throat.
Yeah... let's just do the oppositions work for them.
****ing idiots
ETA... and I think it's highly unlikely that it's anti-2nd amendment vermin that are the ones doing this, or are behind it.
Finally, someone gets it.
Apparently these morons learned nothing from Starbucks or Jack in the Box.
Walking into a restaurant with a semi auto rifle slung over your aint the smartest move. If they carried concealed a hand gun this would have been just another day. Instead they poked the bear and now have to live with the consequences
Sent from the blind
Correct. People aren't getting that point for some reason. They just want to walk into stores with AR's because "it's my right" and to promote their agendas. You get what you asked for, like you said. Society isn't going to become desensitized to open carry anytime soon...it's just the way it is unfortunately. Sorry.
Keep it concealed! It does not matter if it's a request or outright ban in these businesses. The point is we are bringing more negative attention to ourselves than we are positve attention with these types of displays.

Well, the texans fudged that one up. I get that it's their right and yada yada. Still weird as **** to go to a restaurant with an AR slung to your back. They made a point alright. Now, Chipotle made a point as well. I'm a fan of the 2A, but I honestly think that going to a restaurant open carrying a long gun makes you look like an imbecile.
Your right, that was a tacky move.
Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.
It's not helping
Yeah, there's a "proven" strategy (H&M), let's try that one again, again, again?Winning heart and minds
Thank you for taking the time to reach out to us about this very sensitive issue. We recognize that the vast majority of gun owners are responsible citizens who carry their guns in accordance with local laws. We hope that those same citizens will honor our request to refrain from bringing their firearms into our restaurants, unless they are authorized law enforcement personnel. I will definitely make a note of your sentiments regarding our request. In the meantime, I hope that you have a peaceful rest of the week and that we may someday have the opportunity to serve you again.
Sincerely,
Andrea

Chipotle Mexican Grill
Dear Andrea.
If I choose to visit your establishment, I will have in my possession my valid/active Massachusetts License to Carry Firearms, Class A, with No Restrictions, as well as personal defense weapons of my choosing. I will visit Chipotle anytime I choose to, and will carry these weapons of personal safety in, around, near and in proximity to your restaurant any damned time I choose.
Additionally, I have complied a list of the 10 most f*cked up individuals whom I know personally. Issues including, but not limited to, drug abuse, alcoholism, violence, rage, anger mismanagement, spouse abuse/domestic violence, child abuse, depression, suicidal thoughts, etc etc.
8 of the 10 (that's EIGHT OUT OF TEN) are LAW ENFORCEMENT PERSONNEL.
I, on the other hand, am not law enforcement personnel. Yet if I do (unlikely, but perhaps as someones guest) visit Chipotle, I will do so with my Smith&Wesson 442 in my right front pocket, as well as my Glock 22 strapped to my ankle, both fully loaded with high-powered, hollow-point rounds (and with one extra round in the chamber of the Glock). And I will do so any damned time I choose to, as is my right, as a law-abiding citizen, under the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution.
In the meantime, I hope that YOU also "have a peaceful rest of the week".
Sincerely,
A law abiding, gun carrying, peaceful United States citizen.
You cannot legally open carry a handgun in Texas. You can only open carry long guns. A right not exercised is a right lost. You guys almost sound the same as MDA calling them imbeciles, morons, ****ing stupid, and saying they should be 'throat punched'. Seriously. You can't open carry a handgun in Texas. Some might not even be legally allowed to conceal carry a handgun. But both are not really relevant. Either you support the right to bear arms, or you don't.
No, a right not exercised is not a right lost. Plenty of people don't exercise the 2A, or many other rights for that matter (right to assemble, etc). That doesn't mean they've 'lost' the right to do so.
And everyone one this forum obviously supports the RKBA, some of us just don't agree with antics people pull.
Going into Chipotle with a AR strapped on...are you f**king kidding me? You think that's a good idea that will help our cause? No, it's moronic and it got the predicted response.
I could give two shits if Chipotle 'bans' guns or not. It's their business, and their 'right' to do so. Like we've all said - if it bothers you that much, just get your burritos someplace else.
Me said:If Chipotle wants to make a policy saying customers can't carry guns, they can do that. Their choice. If someone wants to not eat their as a result, they can, their choice.

Why does exercising any right have to 'help [a] cause'?
Pretty pointless if you don't exercise it, don't you think? Oh, I support the right to bear arms to the extent that you don't bears arms. Yep, that makes sense...
No, some people very clearly don't support the right to bear arms. You don't have to open carry a long gun if you don't want. Telling others they shouldn't, and berating them when they do, is in fact, the opposite of supporting the right to bear arms.
What cause? Why does exercising any right have to 'help [a] cause'? The right to bear arms doesn't only extend to the point of supporting or promoting a cause, even if that is the intention.
I don't know if it was directed at me, but yes, I'm pretty sure that is what I said.
Yep, I did!
Yeah, there's a "proven" strategy (H&M), let's try that one again, again, again?
These guys aren't the problem, they are a symptom. This "conversation" needs to be had and harsh words are going to be exchanged. They are less of a concern than the quiet apathy that follows in their wake.

like the fact it is legal to open carry in massachusetts, just don't actually do it or they may take it away?
