Boston officers accused of 'selling badges' to drug dealers

A point of interest is this mention of stolen gift cards:

"Pulido, the alleged ringleader, is accused of running a far-reaching criminal enterprise that also involved identity fraud, stolen gift cards..."

Could these have been "gift cards" associated with the Gun Buy back program? Wouldn't it be interesting to know.

There are bad PEOPLE everywhere, in every profession. Cops are no different than priests, doctors, lawyers, engineers, etc. Competent, incompetent, honest, crooks, etc. can be found in any profession.

Menino should really be held accountable for the debacle that the city of Boston has become! The downhill slide seems to be continuing along at a rapid and unchecked pace under Mayor Mumbles' watch.

I live in Western, MA - I'd like to know where the drugs were coming from out here. Whether that be Springfield, Chicopee, or one of our smaller towns.

***Update...

Spoke with my friend on the Boston PD. Short of the story is that the gift cards were not from the Gun Buy Back program. Apparently the officers were running the plates of high priced vehicles and selling the information for identity theft purposes. They were being paid with the gift cards.
