Wow I am shocked I tell you who would have thought some sect from the religion of peace would claim responsibility? I mean we all know it is those white christians with european ancestry that are the terrorist

Is there a connection with Islamic extremists and the "Labor Party" in Norway?

Did the Labor Party do something against Islam?

If there is an Islamic connection, I want to know what it is.

except it was extremists... http://www.nytimes.com/2011/07/23/world/europe/23oslo.html?_r=2&hp

"helpers of the global jihad" claimed responsibility.

dont worry, the department of homeland security realizes the attackers aren't always extremists. in fact after watching their latest "if you see something say something" video they seem to be very focused on the fact that instead of muslim extremists it could be anyone. watch the video, no turbans, no allah akbar, nothing.

Don't want to offend the Terrorist Majority Party

But I digress, here's plenty of cartoons of this jackwagon...and if you're offended, stop eating bonbons and I'll stop calling you fat [wink]

The camp is on an island

Yeah in this case the - real - police was not just minutes away but much much longer.
An isolated island with unarmed teenagers and unarmed adult supervisors.
A huge 'gun free zone' completely helpless against a single mad man [sad]

A few guns in the main building's safe could have made a difference...

I've been expecting it for years. The fact that it hasn't happened leads me to believe that the government is probably doing more than we know, that organizing a terrorist strike must be harder than it looks, and that we've been lucky. I don't think we'll be lucky forever.

Maybe they're not attacking us because we're destroying our way of life from within already post 9/11. This looks like another fail brought to you by "gun free zones" and blindly trusting anyone with a uniform to me.

Ya think? What are the odds of two unrelated terroristic-style attacks happening at the same time.

They didn't happen to be conducting anti-terror training drills at the same time did they?

A gun free zone? Like schools? Like hospitals? Criminals will respect at least those areas, right? Oh, never mind...

Norwegian media reported that the suspect belonged to an extreme right wing group, calling himself a "nationalist," and had at least a Glock pistol and machine gun registered in his name. He allegedly ran a company, GeoFarm, involved in farming "vegetables, melons, roots and tubers," and would have had access to chemical fertilizers used in bomb-making.

Machine gun, really? I don't know Norway's gun laws. Ammonium Nitrate Fuel Oxidizer (ANFO) isn't that hard to make but don't you at least need a blasting cap or stick of dynamite to set it off?

According to sgtdemeo there's no difference between them and us

As I recall from my days of playing with things that go "Boom!", yes.

So true, just last week I saw them scanning and patting down a girls college soccer team at the airport. I feel much safer now.

Does anyone think soccer players can really be trusted? If they were true Americans they would have played softball.

But impersonating a police officer is illegal...

It's not illegal if you impersonate a police officer on the phone. Not sure about walking around in a police uniform (strippers do it all the time).

Somewhere between there and walking up to a person, saying, "You're under arrest" and cuffing them, it gets to be illegal.

Full autos are pretty much illegal for civilian ownership in Norway (some exceptions for collectors of antiques). My bet is crap reporting from the media. Black rifle = machine gun.

OSLO, Norway — A suspected right-wing Christian gunman in police uniform killed at least 84 people in a ferocious attack on a youth summer camp of Norway's ruling Labour party, hours after a bomb killed seven in Oslo.

great reporting...lead off the story with the fact that he's a Christian conservative. Do you think that if he was a Muslim, the story would have read:

OSLO, Norway — A suspected Muslim gunman in police uniform killed at least 84 people in a ferocious attack on a youth summer camp of Norway's ruling Labour party, hours after a bomb killed seven in Oslo.

Another effort to make everyone remember that "we cling to guns and religion" and that guns are bad.

From what I have read, Norwegian Special Forces are very active in Afghanistan (not sure how true that is) and Norway has had trouble with Islamist extremists. That said, this doesn't sound like blowback. More like a guy who was off his rocker and decided to take on what i reckon is the socialist party there.

How long till the media tells us he was a Sarah Palin fan and hated taxes?
