Sabre Red is what most everyone uses now, it's what I carry and what I was sprayed with in the academy and is very effective to say the least. 10% capsicum.

I doubt that Sabre Red existed back in the mid-1980s when I went thru the academy. Based on our experience I'd say it was pure OC, not the OC/CS mixture in Sabre Red. And with that we had one of my Lts. hanging his head out the window (mistake was doing this in the gym) to recover from being sprayed.
