Bear Attack

Forget 9mm, he used a paintball gun. Sounds like a bit of a nut job

South Lake Tahoe, a ski resort city in the Sierra Nevada mountains, is home to a lot of wildlife, including many black bears, which Toogee Sielsch refers to as “urbanized.”

Sielsch, who goes by “Tahoe Toogee” on social media, “watches bears, helps move bears from spaces they do not belong, and is a go-to person for news agencies about urbanized bears from NPR to the BBC,” according to Carson Now.

His Instagram page documents his adventures tracking and interacting with bears that have wandered out of the woods and into human communities, where they sometimes cause trouble by breaking into homes in search of food or hibernation spots.

In a video taken on December 26, Sielsch can be seen climbing into a small opening to a crawl space underneath a local home, armed with a paintball gun.

I watched the doc. I would have bet his girlfriend was pluggin.

He started getting lonely, so he convinced her to come up and live with him. Less than 1 month later...

Drove by this not long after it was discovered. Four troopers standing on the soft edge of the highway looking at the car down the bank, their posture and behavior was off. Now I know why. Not long after we passed it, I thought it odd that a EP F150 was headed in that direction with great urgency.

On tonight's news they reported that the original MSP report had been pulled, and the Northwest DA was handling the investigation. No mention of bear activity in the DA's report. However, from other sources it was reported that Mass. Wildlife had euthanized a bear in Hatfield and there was no danger to the public.

I'm not totally clear on this one. Was the original crash from him hitting the bear? Or did he crash for some other reason, and then the bear came?
