You don't really know what has gone on at NES over the last few years. The amount of a**h*** leftist trolls, state spooks, and other shit stirrers is irritating after a while. There's lots of people here that have nuanced positions beyond 'shall not be infringed'. We even get along with them...but they aren't tool bags. You can't make a guess about a community with just 2 months invested. Especially with the turbulent culture going on in the outside world.

Also understand that this place has changed after 2012 election, a lot of new names popping up left and right because all of a sudden they are scared of .gov, writers for lefty blogs, state trolls, etc., then add Sandy Hook, and things have just gotten crazy. This forum, for the most part, is a close knit group of people. A lot of the more vocal members know each other, drink beers together, build guns together, shoot together, and are friends because of this forum. So, when there is a group of like minded friends all hanging out talking guns and politics, and some new guy shows up and try's to shit in their pitcher of beer, these things happen. I would get mad if it happened at cook out or members shoot, why not get upset when it happens here?

I agree. I actually went back through after seeing a reference to PT being banned to find out what happened. I just don't see the justification for him being banned, personally. He has made many left leaning, asshat postings, but never was he disrespectful, or troll-like inmo. All banning him has accomplished at this point is to ensure that we now have yet another JBT enemy, when I truly believe that he would have come to understand our position better over time, even if he didn't agree with everything said here. Congrats on alienating another potential ally guys!

I had a buddy sign up here a few years ago too. Really a good guy, very intelligent and well spoken. He is progun, but certainly leans a bit left on the social end of things. he made a comment in a thread about something, and you would have thought that he said something bad about your daughter...it involved name calling and personal threats (he said he got PMed an actual threat from someone) I just checked and he hasn't signed back in in 3 years..

I have received a threat once or twice in my time here, and I took a beating when I first showed up because I didn't know any better, but maybe growing up as a fat kid gave me thicker skin because I lol at internet threats, and counter internet attack posts in kind, I also don't take myself to serious either. I mean, it is the internet LOLSRS.

I have learned a lot here, and I am far from the same person I was when I signed up, but I am thankful for it, as I think I have become better because of the people I have met here.

Hasnt signed back in in 3 years, good. he learned the lesson that you might be able to shit on the flag but dont do it when you are at a veterans rally. here people voice their opinions and he learned about first ammendment rights, even though this is a forum and that is not a right here. In all seriousness, if this act didn't raise your level of awareness of how the proposed gun laws will effect us this should. Universal gun registration. At anytime this could happen to just about any of us here. Now that is something to be concerned about.

I would be interested to know how he reacted when it went down. There are people with far less in $$$ inventory that have cameras, motion sensors, security alerts, etc. That is the last place I would want to just barge in on.
