Are All Sling QD's Compatible Across Brands?

I've never used or owned a sling but I'd like to get one for my AR. I may never use it but it seems like it'll be good to have in a post apocalyptic dystopian Road Warrior scenario. I like the Magpul MS4 because I can experiment with single point or dual point. My AR has a Magpul stock so I'll get the Type 1 female insert for the rear mount but I'm struggling with the best option for a forward sling mount. The AR has a Troy Alpha rail with the regular round holes. Can I use a Troy female QD and plug the MS4 sling into it or does a Magpul QD sling only fit a Magpul QD sling mount?
