Giving fly fishing a go this morning down on the Cape. My wife is going to kill me, but I might have another expensive hobby to fund.
Thanks. I'm going with my uncle who's an avid fisherman and hunter. It's nice to have an expert to learn from.Good luck, it's on my list too. Tying flies would give me something to do during our miserable winter months since I have no interest in ice fishing. Going to go try to land some trout in an hour and I'll already be bundled up like an eskimo.
My friend and i had a good day in the kayak today, We each caught multiple bass. Here are a couple of nice ones View attachment 149323View attachment 149324
Spent a couple hours drifting nymphs in western MA on Sunday with my girlfriend. I was tying on a fly when I noticed a beautiful brookie hanging out a few feet away from me. Called my girlfriend over to see if she could get a good shot of it with her new waterproof Olympus TG860. She got this pic and we were both really surprised with how well it came out.
A bit closer (with incorrect white balance)
A few minutes later, she took a few more shots and excitedly told me that there was now a whole pod of trout in the spot. I count at least 10. Pretty cool to see, especially a few feet away from us and only the lighter fish was visible from above the surface.
Unfortunately, I broke off on one good fish, and missed a bunch more so no shots of landed fish.
Yup. It's a haul for me, about 90 min away, but I try to get out there whenever I have the time.Almostelmo - Swift River in Belchertown? I spend a good chunk of time on that river each year since it is close to home. Crystal clear water makes for a better day when you can't catch any fish, at least you can see them!
