2015 Fishing/Ice Fishing Thread

Tuesday I'm off to Harvard for the day, Wednesday I could definitely do. Fishing spots/areas/locations...well that's something I never tell anyone.I've fished too long and see what happens when people open their damn mouths. I just like fishing and I'm a good "reeler upper" for commercial!!

Didn't get a chance to go till Saturday and it was sporty, fished the incoming tide for 6 fish went home early. Went back out Sunday with the family for another 76 lbs. nice payday and a family that fishes together stays together.

Nice way to spend a day with the family, enjoying the good weather fishing!
I pulled traps on Thursday and saved the green crabs for a trip. Nothing but North wind the next two days and couldn't go on Sunday.

Couldn't get tot the tog grounds with the relentless NE wind. But we managed to get out to the trout grounds for the first time this season. Fished for an hour and got 2 Browns and a healthy brook trout, although it may be a tiger couldn't quite tell

Took Judy and Nick, a Charter out today for their first Tog trip. Nick planned this trip with me months ago and wasn't going to let the 30MPH gusts stop them! We had a good bite and tossed back dozens of fish.

Had a couple guys out the other afternoon and the fishing is still red hot! If we can get w group of 4 guys together to do an afternoon trip (leave the dock at 330) ill give a killer deal, $150 for 2 solid hours of fishing and a sweet sunset ride home, all gear and bait included

That's great fishing weather here in buzzards bay!

Even better sailing weather! I will be out there tomorrow dragging a line probably the last sail of the season, come on wind! 25-30 is perfect!

We had a good group of us scheduled to out Sunday, but 15-25 SW called that off. The window tomorrow looks better so we're launching from Fairhaven at 9:30 am. Weather looks much better around then.

Giving fly fishing a go this morning down on the Cape. My wife is going to kill me, but I might have another expensive hobby to fund.

Good luck, it's on my list too. Tying flies would give me something to do during our miserable winter months since I have no interest in ice fishing. Going to go try to land some trout in an hour and I'll already be bundled up like an eskimo.

Thanks. I'm going with my uncle who's an avid fisherman and hunter. It's nice to have an expert to learn from.

Last time I tried I was about 8. I damn near hooked myself, my uncle and the dude down the beach from us. Hopefully the intervening 24 years have made me a bit more coordinated.

I'm dressed like I'm going to shovel - base layer, wool socks, long sleeve shirt, sweater, vest, lined pants, etc. I don't mind being cold, but only when there's no other choice!

Snuck out this afternoon with my buddy we managed to get not one but two double digit fish and the first two double digit fish on my boat. My buddy also booked another giant fish that took all his line right into a hole and we couldn't get him out

Glad to see somebody had luck this weekend! We caught nothing but a tiny - two inch long - bass.

Fly fishing is both fun and insanely hard. My younger years of spin and bait casting have built up enough muscle memory that I really have to think about the casting stroke. I'm looking forward to a winter of practice and more attempts this fall.

But now my thoughts can turn entirely to hunting until next year.

Spent a couple hours drifting nymphs in western MA on Sunday with my girlfriend. I was tying on a fly when I noticed a beautiful brookie hanging out a few feet away from me. Called my girlfriend over to see if she could get a good shot of it with her new waterproof Olympus TG860. She got this pic and we were both really surprised with how well it came out.

A few minutes later, she took a few more shots and excitedly told me that there was now a whole pod of trout in the spot. I count at least 10. Pretty cool to see, especially a few feet away from us and only the lighter fish was visible from above the surface.

Unfortunately, I broke off on one good fish, and missed a bunch more so no shots of landed fish.

Cool pictures! Small brookies tend to travel in schools and become independent when they mature. I had a flag ice fishing constantly pop up one day but the fish wouldn't get the hook, wind up jigging the hole and caught dozens of little brookies.

Almostelmo - Swift River in Belchertown? I spend a good chunk of time on that river each year since it is close to home. Crystal clear water makes for a better day when you can't catch any fish, at least you can see them!

Yup. It's a haul for me, about 90 min away, but I try to get out there whenever I have the time.
