On Nov. 17, the state Committee on Public Safety and Homeland Security will hold a morning hearing in the Statehouse. They'll hear testimony on current gun laws and gun club shows, and are also expected to consider new, more restrictive laws.
The incident, sad as it may be, happened at a range with, what I presume, was a legally owned firearm. If the people at the range did something illegal and/or negligent then charge them and take them to trial. Why punish everyone in the state?

Questions grow after Uzi death of child
Call for new rules at gun shows
By Brian R. Ballou

The micro Uzi machine pistol placed in the hands of an 8-year-old at a Westfield gun club's pumpkin shoot last month is so hard to handle that it has earned a nickname among gun enthusiasts: the "Fifty-fifty."
"That means there is a fifty-fifty chance that you'll either kill whomever or whatever you're aiming it at or kill yourself," said Steve Traver, owner of D&S Gunworks, a firearms company in Hancock. "That machine gun should have never been at that shoot. It doesn't have a grip and has such a high rate of fire that even adults have a lot of difficulty controlling it. It's designed for highly-trained bodyguards, not children."
Sounds like another "expert". WTF was he thinking when he made that comment ? Talk about shooting yourself in the foot !
From the artical;
He just helped the .gov put him out of business.
yeah and people like me that have Class 3 weapons and a green card and "Responsibly" do these shoots....... I wonder how this effects us?
what a shame [sad2]
listen to this f***ing holophobe moonbat
"Why do people want to teach their CHILDREN to shoot guns? Are they instructing them in how to kill?

You know what is really screwed, does this fifty/fifty phrase even exist? I googled it and the only actual references are the damned glob article. I think this f***up just made this phrase up. Does he want his name in lights that much? BTW, it appears democratic underground has picked this article up too.

My thoughts exactly. My complaint is that being a responsible, licensed F/A Uzi owner, I would never hand it over to a 8 year old especially a Micro.
I wish people and the law makers would understand that these were not civilian class 3 owners. This is a company that profits off giving these weapons to unlicensed people. That being said I think they made a mistake on their part and should of known that weapon is hard to control even for an adult and was way to much weapon for a child without the proper supervision.
My work schedule is pretty rigid.
Is GOAL going? I don't mind going. In fact I am rather interested in it. I just don't know if I can tell my boss that I need the morning off for that reason.
Anyone know what time the hearing will be at? I might go if I can.
