Well if they cnc machine em gun parts from good material and heatreated em correclly it will last a long time. Just that it cost a lot to made that way.

The question we should all be asking ourselves is why S&W waited so long to move. They should have been out of this miserable state long ago.

They were probably shopping around for the best tax breaks.

Atf got a bunch of machinist fired from Smith and Wesson's machine shop in Springfield today, look like you can not work at a place that made guns if you can not own a gun lol. (I heard about this from an ex Smith and Wesson machinist at my shop)

It’s been a rule for a long time. If you can’t buy a gun, you can’t work at a gun manufacturer. I don’t know how, every once in a while, the head of security at sig would show up and walk someone out. If you had, say a restraining order, and you got out in front of it. Sig would work with you.

We're they machinists or assemblers? The reason I am asking is because the assembler work force at one time made up from mostly temps supplied from an agency and the agency was supposed to be responsible for vetting them. If it is still that way I can understand why this happend.

Are you referring to corporate rules, or some law/regulation. Gun companies of significant size have lots of jobs that do not even require access to guns. I can understand the legal problem of a machinist who has access to guns, but there are numerous office jobs that do not need such access.

it’s an atf rule. I’ve worked for 4 gun companies. If you work for a gun manufacturer, sooner or later, you will be near a gun. I made certain parts. We didn’t have access to complete guns. We were in a building in Exeter. Why would any company take that chance?

machinists i think.s&w run background check on people when they got hire,so maybe they lost their 2a right to touch a gun after they become s&w employee . The guy that told me this information look very unhappy right now,soo ill leave him alone instead of asking more questions.am at work

This is true some of S&W is still in Springfield. The Fordge, and ⁹Hardening also Revolver and I think Plating is still in Springfield. Revolver and Plating will most likely be moved in the future. I don't think there are any plans to move foraging or hardening they will most likely stay in Springfield, these two departments are not very employee heavy and the building upkeep and expenses running these two departments will be weighed agesnt sales from foraging and hardening and overall operations costs. So it is possable in a few years S&W in Springfield will only be a memory. S&W was the number three employer in the Springfield area so the area has taken a big economic hit with S&W moving most operations out. The Cassino will not be able to fill the employment void. Baystate Medical/Hospital is the number one employer and Mass Mutual is number two also will not be able to fill the employment needs in the area. Unless Springfield has a really good economic plan the city is doomed. You can already see the downward spiral.

It's really not a problem .
As long as you get your ass out of bed to work every day there is always more money to take.

Only if there a job to get up to. Things are getting to be slim pickings and with the governor packing the city with more illegals then any other city/town in the state.
