I pour Mobile 1 on every thing, shake it, wipe it and I'm good to go.
I understand it in the field....not so much for matches...expecially with "tight" pieces that need to be broken in.

There just might be a difference between combat/field usage, and civilian everyday usage. The two are NOT the same. What works in the "field" is not always the best for what works for normal civilian use. Many factors go into the choice....on the civilian side.
What do people use for their carry gun while carrying (specifically a 1911)?
I just got both my guns, and haven't had to clean them yet (they were both cleaned by their previous owners before I got them).
get a glock and forget about lubing
Clean them anyway before you shoot. It'll give you a chance to see any obvious problems before you shoot and it'll help you get to know your guns better.
Oh, I've field stripped and reassembled each of them more times than I can remembered since I've gotten them. Just nothing to clean until I get out to the range!

Ok, I cleaned the M&P anyway! Turns out there was a little residue to clean out after all! Felt good!
