Picked up a new Ruger Pistol Caliber Carbine in 9mm over the weekend. The bolt release is just forward of the trigger guard. Is there "the way" or a best practice to operate a carbine/rifle with this design? I'm a righty. Not sure if I should operate the bolt handle with my right hand and use my left hand to operate the bolt stop or if there's some other "pro" way I should learn.

The design is very much like the 10/22. What works for me, is to rack the bolt open with my right hand and manipulate the release with my left hand.

As Peicemaker said - go see what works for you.

I open the bolt with the thumb of my right hand and my fingers naturally curl under the trigger guard to reach the bolt lock lever.
