QD Mounts versus Scope Rings

I've owned both. For the vast majority of shooters, it seems to me that QD rings only really offer the advantage of being able to take the optic off while cleaning the gun.

How many of you have actually taken a SNAFU'ed optic off a gun and proceeded to say finish a match or a hunt using the backup irons?

I have rings on the rifles I have for the reasons you state, and there’s always the chance you need to re-zero when you put the scope back on. Also, it’s not like you need to be especially careful to clean a rifle with a scope/optic on it.

I have Warne steel QD rings on the rifles I travel with. It lets me fit two rifles in a case with the scopes off.

Plus I can fly with the scopes in my carry on so they dont get bashed around in transit.

I put them on and recheck zero before I hunt. Usually. Its right on.

I cant call them QD mounts but I have had to remove my optics and go to the irons and the optics where mounted with the big thumb screw type rings.?

So the reason I started this thread is I'm doing a FAL carbine build. The FAL is getting a 1-6x24 mounted onto it via a DSA top cover. I've read that FALs can be brutal on optics so I'm mostly concerned about locking the optic down as securely as possible.

If I need to take the gun apart for transport, I can take the gun apart by separating the upper and lower. Cleaning the gun involves cracking it open like an over/under by using the disassembly lever. So I'm not too concerned about taking the optic on and off. When I shoot, I always carry Allen wrenches.

I'm debating between these:
