Meanwhile in Irving, Tx...
State Representative Terry Meza (D-Irving) has introduced HB196. Her bill would repeal the state's castle doctrine that allows a homeowner to use deadly force against an armed intruder who breaks into his home. “I'm not saying that stealing is okay," Meza explained. "All I'm saying is that it doesn't warrant a death penalty. Thieves only carry weapons for self-protection, and to provide the householder with an incentive to cooperate. They just want to get their loot and get away. When the resident tries to resist is when people get hurt. If only one side is armed, fewer people will be killed."

Meza was quick to reassure that her bill "would not totally prevent homeowners from defending themselves. Under the new law, the homeowner's obligation is to flee the home at the first sign of intrusion. If fleeing is not possible, he must cooperate with the intruder. If violence breaks out, it is the homeowner's responsibility to make sure no one gets hurt. The best way to achieve this is to use minimum non-lethal force; intruders will be able to sue for any injuries they receive at the hands of the homeowner."

"In most instances, the thief needs the money more than the homeowner does," Meza reasoned. "The homeowner's insurance will reimburse his losses. On balance, the transfer of property is likely to lead to a more equitable distribution of wealth. If my bill can help make this transfer a peaceful one, so much the better."

"Thieves only carry weapons for self-protection, and to provide the householder with an incentive to cooperate."

This can't be real....(can it?)

Same argument was coming from Dem politicians in riot cities: "It's ok to loot Target, Walgreen, Apple store, etc. because they've got plenty of money and these looters are just trying to feed their families."

I meant for the quotes.

I found this by googling the words. Don't see the actual blog though.

"Language in the post can be traced back to a Dec. 5 blog written by the conservative humorist John Semmens, who confirmed to The Associated Press it was a work of satire based on the real bill. However, his post is being shared as real on social media. "

her words - "What my bill would do if passed, would require a homeowner to exhaust the potential of safely retreating into their habitation before using deadly force in defense of themselves or their property. I filed this bill because the castle doctrine as it currently exists emboldens ..."

What she says is exactly what the translation was. 'would require a homeowner to exhaust the potential of safely retreating '. and a court of law will examine, if you indeed had exhausted all the possible potentials, or left some none-exhausted properly.
To be honest - a bit of an old news, it was already stated that is was mostly her publicity stunt to appeal to the squad - but, it nevertheless defines where we are with this new culture.

I think someone nailed this one on the head. If a thief breaks into a theoretical Texas homeowner domicile and robs the homeowner who fully cooperates and allows the robber to take everything and then the home owner pulls a gun on the robber, is the robber required to cooperate, return the goods and retreat?

That's an extremely big brain strategy, lol.

Comply with the robber, then rob the robber to get your stuff back; the robber will now be compelled to retreat.

So, if I rob somebody who is more wealthy than I am does that count as more redistribution of wealth?

This must be a joke.

This passes in TX and what's going to happen is that the crime rate is going to go down as your local thug breaks into a home never to be seen or heard from again.

Home invader with weapon (Home owner with suppressor + ludicrous laws against the home owner)= "Disappeared" in the finest of Russian Traditions.

That'll be cool though, its socialist.
