New Folks Check In and Say Hi #4

PacMan,

The glock I just bought is a 3rd gen 21. Shot it for the first time this weekend and loved it. I will add another one to start my "collection" in the months to come. I like the look of the 19, and have shot my buddies gen 4 a bunch of times, but i just dont shoot it as well as the full size glocks. I'm a tall guy with long fingers, and the compacts just dont fit as well in my hand.

The 10mm glock really intrigues me, but i think it would be exensive/hard to find ammo, as well as not too practical. But who really said we need to be practical right? Mabye I will look at a G22 next, never shot a .40 cal before but I have heard the recoil is a little more "snappy" compared to the .45's. Ill have to try it myself one of these days.

Which Glock do you favor?

Andrew

My preference at this point is the 17, I like the 9mm round and have not had enough experience with a 19 or 26 to comment just yet. I plan on getting a 19 if they are as great as everyone tells me.
I really want one in .45 also as I have shot a few and enjoy larger caliber and it fit me fine. So we will see how that goes.

Hello and welcome Trevor (FormerAPD), Auntie Crazy, and Andyb007,

Glad to have even more on our side lol.

Trevor we are all in agreement the laws behind exercising your right is ridiculous. I wish you the best in acquiring yours.

Auntie - thank you for your service and welcome back into the shooting community. We are certainly glad to have here and hope you will become active on the forum. Thanks for becoming green as a member :)

Andy your in good company here, plenty of new shooters and you will find tons of info. Enjoy!

Just stopping in to say Hello!
I'm new to this site and found it on the net searching for information on various topics involving shooting. I used to do alot of shooting years ago, and through the course of time got away from it. Last fall when talking to my younger Son about his newly shot large Buck, we decided to do some shooting when he came home for Christmas. My oldest Son was in favor of it also, so we went to a local indoor range and really enjoyed the time spent together shooting. Unfortunatly my younger Son went back to Alabama, but my elder Son and I go shooting quite often now. I enjoyed shooting years ago, and now even more.

Hello and welcome FLY FIS,

Nothing is better then hearing a former shooter coming back into the fold. And to add the family to the mix is even better. I am very happy to hear you have been able to spend quality time with your son by doing so. Your in good company here and we look forward to seeing you get into the discussions. Enjoy

Welcome Counselor,

Glad to have another attorney here in Massachusetts who believes in the 2nd Amendment.

Hello everyone,

I'm new to the forum. My name is Trevor. I'm originally from NM and moved to the Communistwealth of Massachusetts to go to law school back in 2006. Now that I have a good job, I guess I'm stuck here for a while.

Prior to moving to MA I spent a couple of years with Albuquerque Police Department and 3 years as an active duty Air Force officer. I am now the proud (i.e., lucky) holder of an unrestricted Class A license. As an attorney, I can unequivocally say that the entire licensing process is unconstitutional. If I was denied a license, my plan was to find a law professor to help me bring a challenge. Unfortunately, I don't have standing to bring a suit--it's bitter sweet.

Anyway, I'm excited to be part of this forum.

Trevor

Hi All,

I've been hanging around here for a while soaking up knowledge.

I am on day 20 waiting for my LTC, and I had no idea the waiting was going to grind on me like it has.

I was a long time "member" of the Smith & Wesson Shooting Sports Range, so when they closed shop I figured it would be a great time to get in gear and get my LTC.

Great to have you here and really looking forward to your insights. (dont take the LEO bashers too personally... They're talking about the bad apples, not you!) [grin]

Hi all,

I am newly returned to the Peoples Republik of Massachusetts, after an extremely pleasant 6 year hiatus in Georgia. I have already begun the LTC process, and can't wait to bring my gear up north. I was hoping to hear some input on good ranges/clubs which feature a longer rifle range- something apparently hard to come by in this state. If it means anything, I am now living in Boston, but I am happy to make a commute out to a good club!

Looking forward to contributing to the forum!

Yoneasy - I welcome you back to the area. I hope it was for better things then gun laws haha. Enjoy!

Reading and Harvard are two of the long distance shooting ranges I am thinking of right off the bat.

See you all in the discussions and be safe.

Brand new to this forum, but not new to firearms. Now that my son is interested in shooting, I am back into it again.

I love the fact you can buy online via FFL although, Massachusetts continues to make things difficult with their restrictive and socialist-like regulations.

I live in coastal surroundings south of Boston and look forward to finding a good gun club.

Rich

That's what I am hoping. And I'm looking into a lot of different options but I have narrowed it down To 9mm; glock, Springfield xd sub compact or a s&w m&p. Also I am a college student with a college student bank account LOL. so my membership will hopefully be coming shortly, along with one to the NRA.

Hello Rich, welcome to the forum.

I am happy to hear your returning to the community of shooters and including your son. You don't have to tell us what garbage MA residents have to deal with. Do us all a favor and donate to GOAL and COMM2A that will help us with the good fight. Glad to have you on board and enjoy the forum.

All very good firearms. I think you can't go wrong with any of those. I certainly understand the budget trust me college or not it does not get any easier so just be prepared to drain your account everytime you want a new toy lol

Hello, my name is Harry from Leyden, MA. First let me say I love the website a buddy turned me onto it. About three years ago my son said he wanted to get into hunting, he was 9 at the time. So having not hunted or owned a gun in the last 20 yrs, I applied for my class A. It took about 3 months to get but well worth the wait.
My son was able to get his first turkey and deer last year. My wife has since got her class A. And the whole family enjoys going to the range, and hunting. I carry everyday, but my wife is still reluctant, she is worried about carrying at work. I'm a self-employed carpenter so it not an issue for me.

Hi all,

Recently submitted my LTC-A application in the great city of Somerville, MA...so we'll see how that goes. :) Probably won't post for a while, just soaking up knowledge for a while. Might know some of you from the NESR motorcycle board, or the track up at Loudon. PPSEL out of Hanscom but haven't flown in a while. Glad to be among you folks-

-Jared

Hello and welcome Hkuenzel (Harry) and feralchimp (jared),

Another shooting family that brings a smile to my face. I am happy for your son, I still have not taken my first game.
All like minded people here for the most part so I hope you both will get right into the discussions.

Donate to GOAL and COMM2A also to keep up the good fight please.

Hi All !

Name is Jason and am a semi new ( Moved in Nov '11 ) resident of Douglas MA, lifelong MA resident though. Will be going through the process of submitting my LTC A shortly, I have completed the MFS basic course and am thinking I will do the conceal carry course before I submit my app. Been doing much research here over the past couple days and decided to join up and maybe bug some members in my area for tips and advice. In my limited time here I can tell there is a great wealth of info and will use the search function vigorously. Very nice to be here !

Hello zbomb (Jason),

Welcome to the forum. I hope you can get your license squared away quickly and easily.
There is plenty of knowledge to be had on the board, use your search function, and enjoy.
Thanks for your support of the forum by going green also.

Hello, my name is Harry from Leyden, MA.

Hi, Harry. Are you a member of the Leyden Rifle Club? It doesn't have an actual clubhouse, but they've got a nice rifle range that goes out to 250 yards. They hold Appleseed Shoots out there 4x a year; the president is an Appleseed Instructor. Got a nice 25 yard pistol range, too. It's waaay out in the woods so bring your bug spray!

Suggestions From A Newbie

I have had a Ruger P85 since they first came out and shot it a lot in earlier years; I thought it was the best thing besides my Ruger Mark I. My son recently bought a Steyr M9 and I am so impressed with the feel and the sights.

I suggest you take your time and find "the" only one that really feels and sights right for you.

This is a great sport you can share with others.

My name is Craig and I was a member here some time ago. I was an NRA instructor for 10 years. I am a member of the Chester Rod & Gun club.
At one point I owned 30 different firearms, now it's a Ruger Mark ll 10.5 inch W/ red dot, S&W M&P9c, Glock 19, an SKS and an AK AMD I posted a pic of in the AK picture section. I have introduced 7 new people to shooting this month and enjoy it immensely. Glad to be back, I have a lot posts to read through.

Hello CraigR,

Glad you decided to come by and introduce yourself here. Sounds like your a great addition to the community. I am happy you have brought so many new shooters in. I also like your taste in firearms. Enjoy!
