Taking night classes, here is how it reads:

Unauthorized possession of firearms, explosives, knives, ammunition, other weapons, or dangerous chemicals on Institute premises. Use of any item, even if legally possessed, in a manner that harms or threatens others.

Seems pretty open for interpretation no?

Geoff C,
What are you worried about? It's probably a 'gun free zone' so you should feel all warm and fuzzy about that... right? Just like Viginia te... well, Northern Illino... hmm... those guys must not have gotten that memo.

i would say it is... if it were not a school...

Use of any item, even if legally possessed
this would assume that legal possesion is ok... but again... School + MA + Gun = Jail

Yeah it doesn't give you any idea of what the penalties are....

It kind of makes it sound like there ARE unauthorized firearms, explosives, knifes, ammo.... on the premises. And that if you use them you need to use them in a manner that harms or threatens others.

I'm guessing a few words are missing ;)

ok... prehapes i was a bit to simplistic in my response [rolleyes]

but unless you have premission from the school and someone catches you... you are likely to be hip deep in shit...

you may not get an overnighter at the concreat and bars inn, but you will likely end up loosing your license in the end.

is that better?

Where are you going to school? If you are going to school in MA, it is illegal to have a gun on campus without written permission from the school. See MGL Chapter 269 Section 10j:

(j) Whoever, not being a law enforcement officer, and notwithstanding any license obtained by him under the provisions of chapter one hundred and forty, carries on his person a firearm as hereinafter defined, loaded or unloaded or other dangerous weapon in any building or on the grounds of any elementary or secondary school, college or university without the written authorization of the board or officer in charge of such elementary or secondary school, college or university shall be punished by a fine of not more than one thousand dollars or by imprisonment for not more than one year, or both. For the purpose of this paragraph, “firearm” shall mean any pistol, revolver, rifle or smoothbore arm from which a shot, bullet or pellet can be discharged by whatever means.

So the school policy may be the least of your worries.

Here's the snake in the oil. Basically, even if you have a legally licensed firearm as well as the required written authorization, brandishing or using it in any act of self defense is in breach of their rules. It just wouldn't do for a true place of academia to allow an individual capable of even controlled and completely justifiable violence to "taint the pool", would it? [rolleyes]

M1911, Thanks for posting that. Kind of what I was looking for. After I read "Unauthorized possession..." I kinda figured it meant something along the lines of, school must authorize you to possess.

True. I would most likely only need to brandish it on the walk to the parking lot through the projects after class though lol.
