Yes, alcohol was involved, and this incident didn't end with the usual newsmaking results.
But to their credit, they were from Arkansas and weren't stupid enough to use anything bigger than a .22

Men take turns wearing bulletproof vest to shoot each other

Also interesting is they were charged with aggravated assault, but no firearm related charges, so I guess it's legal to shoot while drinking in Arkansas.

Ferris was wearing a bulletproof vest and told Hicks to shoot him with the vest on.

Hicks shot Ferris in the chest one time with a .22-caliber semi-automatic rifle, according to the report.

The bullet hit Ferris in the top left corner of his chest, and the vest stopped the bullet. The shot still hurt Ferris and left him with a red mark on the chest.

Ferris then took the vest off and Hicks put it on.

Ferris was angry about getting shot and how much it hurt, so he "unloaded the clip into Christopher's back," according to the report.

Ferris got what he asked for, cried about it, then demanded excessive compensation for his own actions. I didn't realize liberalism had penetrated the backwoods.

Where does it say the hillbilly demanded any sort of compensation, let alone "excessive" compensation?

Compensation doesn't have to mean $. He took the compensation in the form of excessively shooting his buddy, who he originally asked to shoot him.

i hear the new bullet proof vests have an electronic force field that extends to cover the head...they should try out THAT feature next

Not sure why Hicks was charged with aggravated assault, a felony, as Ferris asked Hicks to shoot, and Hicks obliged him. Seems like for Hicks at least there was no intent (to injure), So to me it looks like mutual consent. Now Ferris on the other hand ...lol

wiki on assault:

"Possible examples of defenses, mitigating circumstances, or failures of proof that may be raised in response to an assault charge include:

  • Lack of intent: A defendant could argue that since they were drunk, they could not form the specific intent to commit assault. This defense would most likely fail, however, since only involuntary intoxication is accepted as a defense in most American jurisdictions.
  • Mutual consent: A defendant could also argue that they were engaged in mutually consensual behavior. For example, boxers who are fighting in an organized boxing match and do not significantly deviate from the rules of the sport cannot be charged with assault.
Laws on assault vary by state. Since each state has its own criminal laws, there is no universal assault law. Acts classified as assault in one state may be classified as battery, menacing, intimidation, reckless endangerment, etc. in another state. Assault is often subdivided into two categories, simple assault and aggravated assault.

  • Simple assault involves an intentional act that causes another person to be in reasonable fear of an imminent battery. Simple assault may also involve an attempt to cause harm to another person, where that attempt does not succeed. Simple assault is typically classified as a misdemeanor offense, unless the victim is a member of a protected class, such as being a law enforcement officer.[34] Even as a misdemeanor, an assault conviction may still result in incarceration and in a criminal record.
  • Aggravated assault involves more serious actions, such as an assault that is committed with the intent to cause a serious bodily injury, or an assault that is committed with a deadly weapon such as a firearm. Aggravated assault is typically classified as a felony offense."

Question: Did Winchester ever make Black Talons in .22LR?
