But I still lust after one of them, so I'm OK.
Once Henry started offering loading gate options paired with their superior access to the loading tube for safe unloading needed by hunters, Marlins' older designs lost a lot of their niche.Lol and Henry is laughing all the way to the bank on that news.
Actually glad you made the separate thread.Whoops!!! My bad.
It is not bad at all.My shoulder is aching just thinking about shooting a 45-70
Laughing at what?Lol and Henry is laughing all the way to the bank on that news.
If you’re talking price point I think the new Marlin has it all over a Henry.Laughing at what?
Looking very nice.If you’re talking price point I think the new Marlin has it all over a Henry.

I have shot a 45/70 about a dozen times. I have no idea what the loads were but I will say that my left shoulder hurt for several days (I'm a lefty shooter). I would consider one of these if I could reload my own rounds...It is not bad at all.
If you add a full charge with a 600 grain solid bullet it will s*ck big time.
Get a BFR in 30-30 instead. There are a bunch of those on Gun Broker.I have shot a 45/70 about a dozen times. I have no idea what the loads were but I will say that my left shoulder hurt for several days (I'm a lefty shooter). I would consider one of these if I could reload my own rounds...
It would be a nice addition to my Marlin 30-30 that I bought in the 70s.
Insert obvious joke about Government and pain here.I have shot a 45/70 about a dozen times. I have no idea what the loads were but I will say that my left shoulder hurt for several days (I'm a lefty shooter). I would consider one of these if I could reload my own rounds...
Let me rephrase that…. I shoot left handed….Insert obvious joke about Government and pain here.
The fact that they have had 45-70s available a lot longer than marlin, probably for slightly less money, too. Marlin is practically invisible in the channel lolLaughing at what?
Should have gone for 50-70.The fact that they have had 45-70s available a lot longer than marlin, probably for slightly less money, too. Marlin is practically invisible in the channel lol
Any Ruger single actions seem to be MIA, at least in the shops I frequent.Looking very nice.
Now, if they could start producing and shipping Vaqueros again, that would be great.
I asked a known gunsmith that works on CAS guns. He says he hasn't received a shipment in 1.5 years of any Vaquero model.Any Ruger single actions seem to be MIA, at least in the shops I frequent.
