Man Tapes Laser Pointer To Pellet Gun, Tries To Rob Apartment, Tenant With Real Gun Shoots Him

When a man and his buddy tried robbing an apartment complex, their plan wasn’t all that great. When banging on the door, they alerted people inside that they were law enforcement.

No one bought it, and they got on the phone with 911 immediately.

One of the men was armed with a pellet gun, and police say he taped a laser pointer to the front of it. Legit.

“(The intruder) kicked the door open, that’s when the tenant saw the barrel of the gun come through the door,” Apodaca said. “The tenant announced several times that he was armed, and that’s when the offender went into the living room, just stepping through the doorway and being that he was armed, the tenant protected himself with his own weapon.”

The tenant shot the man, ending the break-in attempt quickly. That suspect was taken to the hospital where he later died.

After the self-defense shooting, the man who shot the suspect made a make-shift tourniquet to help stop some of the bleeding.

The tenant is not expected to face any charges, even though the intruder was wielding a pellet gun. In cases like that, where you believe that your life is in danger, you’re able to use any means necessary to defend yourself. Recognizing the difference between a real gun and a fake gun is near impossible in many instances.

Everything was done by the book, including rendering aid to the fallen suspect.

screw that, I don't have any obligation to render life saving treatment to someone I put a bullet in.

If this was Mass the guy would have lost his LTC, they would have taken possession of his firearms and he would be forced into bankruptcy after fending off charges of manslaughter from the AG and being sued by the fsmily of the perp for causing the poor guys death.

Maybe he was just trying to lessen the mess that he was going to have to clean up later?

a dead person does not bleed much .... no pumping heart, no bleeding out on the floor. Someone didn't shoot until the threat was stopped.

How do you put a tourniquet to stop bleeding to a Chest/Abdominal center mass shot? I suppose you need to carry a wound packing kit at well as a tourniquet.

No mention of where this occurred.

I said it before and I'll say it again.

Of an intruder in your home that you just shot? Around the neck would be my suggestion

Break-in Ends in Deadly Shooting

But he was turning his life around.....

Oh, for a minute I thought he was a worthless piece of shit, I hope he had a good life insurance policy for the kids. I guess he must have been absent from college the day they taught about NOT breaking into other peoples homes. As for being a man of God, he broke 2 of the Big 10.

In MA,
Recognizing the difference between a real gun and a fake gun is near impossible in many instances.

In MA, I wouldn't be surprised if the tenant has the duty to recognized the lethality of barreled weapons.

Breaking and entering should be deterred by the fear that even though all you want to do is steal a TV, the resident doesn't know that, and must only assume the worst. Why people still break and enter is beyond me.

You don't, nor would wound packing likely work. That requires a trip to the Operating Room, if you make it that far.

As the surgeons say, "Nothing heals like cold steel."

I guess his Masters in Psychology program doesn’t cover why people do dumb shit like this.

Too bad he fathered three kids.

This is the only music that should be playing while anyone reads this article.... [rofl]

Not sure if serious, people can be incapacitated without dying. Plenty of people have been "stopped" by cops and others with firearms and still had survivable wounds. That doesn't mean they were still a threat when they were stopped, etc.

I once duct taped a HeNe laser to a Crosman 760. Couldn't take it very far, because the laser had to be plugged into a wall socket. It was about half the size of loaf of bread.
