"asking for a friend" [kiss]

my friends father has returned to mass after living in Florida. He is old enough now that he would like to get rid of the 2 hand guns in his possession. one is a 5 shot 38 spl revolver purchased in Florida by him. The other is a 9mm semi auto purchased in Arizona by Friends uncle from the mothers side . My friends father is not licensed in Ma and has no plan to get one. Can my friend simply EFA10 the 2 hand guns to himself without seller info?

My friend is not a big fan of jail and would rather skip that experience

Thanks for any useful info and I expect to tell my friend to search because its been covered a billion times

The friend and his father need to go to a Mass. FFL with the guns and have them transferred to the friend. Shouldn’t take more than half an hour.
Or wait until his father dies, use the provision to pick it up in another state without an FFL if it is a bequested gun, then FA register it.

The old man is in mass and as far as waiting till he passes, he just doesn't want them anymore. Not sure the old guy can get around well enough to get to a shop that will do the transfer.

Thank you for the help so far

Right, so the son takes them off his hands on an indefinite loan. When the father passes, they can be gifted, via the will, to the son. Now the transfer doesn't require the aid of an FFL. Just the EFA-10 to record the new possession.

^^^^ this, the son take possession, borrowing them from the father, you can lend firearms to people. *who are licensed

but remember guns "loaned" across state lines can only be used for "legitimate sporting purposes" so don't kill anyone with one or CCW it
