Exactly, then don't buy it. There is no such thing as gouging. Even if the prices are too high, people will either buy it, or they will take their business elsewhere. Like Walmart or another LGS with lower prices. I guess it's pretty simple.
If you see something here in the classifieds that is a $3500 Bushmaster AR, then don't buy it. If that guy sells that AR though for $3500, then I guess the price wasn't that high.
But see, there IS such a thing as price gouging. Depending on what is being sold, the buyer might NEED it to survive, i.e., bottled water in a hurricane zone. The buyer of the water is being gouged if it's several times the going rate for bottled water. Even if he can afford it, and is willing to pay the absurd price, he is being gouged if he is paying $10 for a bottle of water. Period.
The buyer of way overpriced ammo is also being gouged. Maybe he is just a sucker. He might be able to AFFORD it and WILLING to pay the insane price, but that doesn't make it any less a case of price-gouging. But hey, whatever floats your boat.
I'm just disagreeing with your point that whining and gouging are the same thing. Case in point: I think we're paying too much for gas right now. That's whining. Do I think we are being gouged? No. That said, there are plenty of cases of gouging on gas prices. Again, often around natural disasters.
