If someone could give me 5-10 bolts and nuts, I could just fix it when I’m there on the weekends. I find that it is mainly the bolts being shot up that brings it down.

Of course, there are times that the steel gets broken, such as the one with a broken ear now, but that’s less common.

I haven't gone by the club in quite some time it's march 20th as I write this.
I am planning on going by the club tomorrow to survey and make a list. I'll grab supplies to do whatever's needed. Sunday March 24th I will be at the 100yd range

I've recently been inducted into Harvard but have shooting there with a friend for a few years now. It's a shame to see the steel down at the 100 yard range so often. In my opinion they should replace the hanging steel with a few steel sillouhettes on posts. Seems like the chains get shot up too often.

So, for Sunday I am just going to do repairs to hold us over until May when we do a full clean up. It's supposed to rain all night Saturday hopefully it isn't raining Sunday morning.
it looks like we will have to update the telephone poles in the spring along with replacing at least two of the backstops completely.
I'm still entertaining the idea of barn mat instead of plywood, but for now we'll use the plywood at the shop if that's ok with El Presidente'

Weld the bolts to the back of the plates and hang a piece of rubber roofing across the front to cover the chains. It won't stop the damage but it will slow it down because people doing it on purpose won't be able to see exactly where to aim. Yea I know, It's all accidental.

@msvasquez and I were out there this morning replacing all the plywood target backs and shoring up one of the posts. It was a little chilly and windy but we persevered.

I don't know about Spall ! looks like not being able to hit the target and hitting the poles to me.

It's annoying to go to the 100 and find the steel shot down. It's why I carry my own target in the back of the truck. It's not steel in case anyone was curious.

there ought to be a sticky on the condition of the steel at harvard at 100. it's been a hot topic in this thread for a while. i quickly flipped through the posts and i think it was first brought up in 2021, right after the ranges were opening again. one of those things that will never go away.

It's a never ending argument because the problem doesn't have an easy solution. People will be people, can't do much about it. If someone's really upset at the condition of the targets, they should go help fix them.

Personally, I hardly ever shoot the 100y steel so if it's down it's not a big deal for me, but I like to post what it looks like whenever I happen to be at that range because I know others might be curious.

yep, i've never shot at 100. been in harvard, i think, for close to 15 years, never stepped foot over there since my safety walkabout. but i do want to take my contenter over there sometime. the strange thing about harvard, more so than other clubs i've belonged to, is regular shooters of a certain area of the facility, tend to think they own that little patch of the club., be it the action pits, 100 yard, etc. it's funny to see.

someone should put game cameras out for a few weeks after a rebuild of the steel area. not to spy on the members, but focused on the steel and hanging chains. then the argument of deliberately shooting at the hanging chains will be answered. you'll see intentional chain hits.

If you want to see fun try being a machine gun shooter and trying to get into the machine gun range with a bunch of non machine gun shooters taking all the space. Let the hilarity ensue.

According to club rules, machinegun shooters have priority over non-machinegun shooters while at the machinegun range. I've never tested this rule because I've never had a problem there.

I've given up my spot there for a MG shooter before, besides being the rule, it's not like they can just go to another range But like you said, never had a problem, nobody has ever had to ask. There was either plenty of room, or the non MG shooter should volunteer.
