This could interesting. If GOAL had a theme song or music that say could be used at events, intro on the GOAL Show, bumper music for future podcasts, etc. What should it be?

the problem with an organization using music is the ASCAP/BMI licensing fees issue.

Then some artists complain about causes they denounce using their music.

Tom Sholz, the biggest azzhole ever to walk the planet, sent a cease and desist letter to Mike Huckabee because Barry Goudreau was supporting Huckabee, and playing Boston songs on stage with him.

Chrissy Hynde wouldn't let Rush Limbaugh use "My City Was Gone" for a while. I forget how it was resolved.

Bruce " a 396 with fuelie heads" Springsteen has objected to Born In THe USA being used by Ronald Reagan IIRC.

The list goes on, but just watch the ASCAP BMI fee issue for using any music you choose.

Back to the main topic though, a loop of some of the lines from Warren Zevon's " Lawyers, Guns and Money might do.. "Send Lawyers Guns and Money... the shit has hit the fan" would be good for fund raising events.

God Bless America in an instrumental version from an artist in the public domain or non copyrighted works for me too

"Revolution" by the Beatles
"Minority" by Green Day
"Lost Cause" by Beck
".45" by Shinedown
"Suicide is Painless" (Mash Theme song)
[smile]

It's a joke people...

Actually, if you want to really screw with the barking moonbats you can use this list.
"San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair)"
"Imagine" by John Lennon
"Saturday Night Special" by Lynyrd Skynyrd

Hmmm, good question. Will definately need to think this one over.

"I Stand Alone" - Godsmack
Lets face it, only group doing anything in MA on a large basis is GOAL.

"Planet Carivan" as done by Pantera
Such a mellow tune.

"Feel So Numb" by Zombie
The title just epitomizes what you feel after having to deal with some MA Pols.

Fan fair for the common man...
no, NFL has that one IIRC

Darth Vader theme...
POTUS has that one right now

Uh...

That's when I reach for my revolver by Mission of Burma?
No - too inflammatory

Cold Dead Hands by Slowly Suffocating
think about it...

An independent musician needs to make something happen - drums and fife and fife and drums...

Won't back down...Tom Petty. I don't care for him myself but there's no F-bombs in the song. Then again, it may put an audience to sleep.

I'm not a particular fan so someone else will have to suggest a specific song, but something from Ted Nugent might be apropos.

More classic theme songs

And for the rest of you who, like me, apparently also have way too much time to waste...

How about the theme from "Rocky"? [grin]

the problem with an organization using music is the ASCAP/BMI licensing fees issue.

That's why I suggested Mojo Nixon. We could chip in and buy him a 12-pack and we'd probably be good to go.

Won't back down...Tom Petty. I don't care for him myself but there's no F-bombs in the song. Then again, it may put an audience to sleep.

Awesome! But not the Petty version - use the Johnny Cash version instead.

It might help if the OP could suggest a genre, example, idea that you were trying to project with this?

In what type of venue/circumstance it might be used?

Whether licensing issues are an issue or if money is an option?

Considered soliciting a donation from a "local" artist/group to write something new?

Maybe I am over complicating this, but in the world of politics, anything that has the impact that music can have is an "image choice" that should be made carefully...

Rather than getting everyone's IPod playlist, I think it might be more productive to start with some basic framing of what you looking for:

1. Protest or motivational lyrics?
2. "neutral" genre or targeted at some demographic (i.e. country, vs "crossover", vs rock, vs metal - or maybe you want to focus on Barry Manilow fans[laugh])
3. Free, licensed, donated? What's your budget?

Just throwing diapers at the wall to see what sticks here, but the original request seems to be begging for some parameters...
