Dropped round goes off in police station

Sounds like BS to me.

According to the article they did find the bullet...

If it was discharged from a firearm it would have rifling marks on it.

Not only rifling marks but the bullet would either be imbedded in something or severly deformed by hitting something dense enough it could not imbed.

One other possible explanation is that the guy did have an negligent discharge and the cops fudged the report/story to protect the person (who just so happens to have a friend in the department that gave him permission to use the range).

Officers found the .45-caliber round behind seating by windows near the main entrance on the west side of the law enforcement building. It was undamaged and appeared not to have struck anything before settling behind the window seating
The bullet was found behind a couch undamaged, how does that happen with a ND???? It doesnt!
[rolleyes]
