Quick question. I hear people talk about deer size with points. Can someone explain to me how the sytem works?

Well, like most guys, deer tend to "overestimate" their size so divide by two and you might have a more accurate figure.

The reference is on the way that trophy class deer are scored for record-keeping systems such as Boone & Crockett. Very few people ever bother with that amount of trouble (probably because so few of us ever manage to take that sort of game); they simply count the number of points on the antlers. For example, 3 on each side is a 6-point deer. Some but not all states specify a minimum point count for legal bucks as a management technique.

Spikes are, I believe, generally somewhat symetrical. But it can vary.
